The biggest athletes, sponsored by the best brands, will wear the brightest shoes in Toronto on Sunday. The shoes below are inspired by Canada’s history, its weather, and the beautiful Northern Lights it plays host to. All of these shoes will be available at Eastbay.com.
Under Armour Curry 2 ‘All-Star’
Under Armour Curry 2 low
Hoping to hoist another championship trophy, Stephen Curry has gold in his soul. And now he has gold in his soles; golden speckles are infused in the icy translucent outsole of his All-Star Game shoes. Draped in white with red accents, the Curry 2 ‘All Star’ is restrained when compared to the other colorful ASG shoes, it’s crispy clean. But Stephen will be rocking his very first Curry 2 low-tops when he defends his 3-point contest title. (He’s definitely this year’s favorite.) Step into both of Stephen’s All-Star shoes on Saturday.
adidas ‘Aurora Borealis’ All-Star Game Pack
adidas is using the All-Star Game to debut James Harden’s shoe, the Crazylight Boost 2.5 PE. While in light, the Boost boasts reflective Xeno tech scales and a multicolored upper. The dual-layered Primeknit material creates a dynamic, super soft feel, while the ‘Aurora Borealis’ treatment creates an out-of-this-world look.
T-Mac is back! No, not really, but his shoes are. At first look, the T-Mac 3 is white on white. However, once the lights go out, they glow in classic Tracy McGrady fashion. With glow-in-the-dark properties, one shoe glows highlighter blue, while the other glows radioactive green. The different colors are reminiscent of when he famously wore mismatched shoes for the 2004 All-Star Game. The 2016 All-Star Game shoes are finished with a faux-fur trim — a nod to Canada’s cold climate.
The tried-and-true D Lillard 2 also received the ‘Aurora Borealis’ color treatment. His second shoe has become a huge buy for basketball players due to its great price while featuring Boost and Primeknit technologies. New Northern Lights colors that glow in the dark should continue to generate a lot of excitement.
Nike ‘Royalty’ pack
Nike, as usual, is on point with their storytelling for this year’s All-Star Game. The Nike ‘Royalty’ pack pays tribute to Toronto’s royal roots. Along with the city’s origins, each shoe has a decorative badge that displays the wearer’s individual accomplishments. Go bold with the crazy-colored KD 8, or go clean and subtle with Paul George’s Nike Hyperlive. No matter your style, rule all courts with the Nike ‘Royalty’ pack.
