With roots in Southern California and an affection for outdoor sports, it’s really no surprise that Vans is one of the companies that continues to bring eco-friendly designs to mainstream sneakers. Over the years they’ve used a number of materials that fall into the ‘making the world a better place’ category of sneaker design and now they’re back again with a new earth-conscious silhouette.
The Vans Thurso is a mid-cut boot-like design that uses the Vanslite midsole to keep it weighing next to nothing. It also utilizes a waxed finish that helps it resist water, making it a great choice for the surf culture that Vans has supported since their late 1960’s beginnings. Hemp rubber pads are placed strategically across the flexible outsole to add durability, and the padded collar and molded insole provide comfort.
