During his high school days at the famous Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, Brandon Jennings was one of the most highly-touted prospects. In his senior year he averaged over 32 points per game, along with over 7 assists per outing as well. It resulted in Jennings receiving a number of awards, including Naismith Prep Player of the Year. It was after his impressive time at Oak Hill that Jennings professional career began in Europe, where he began his partnership with Under Armour Basketball.

Jennings has made it habit to not forget where he came from, as earlier this year he revamped the Compton Double Rock Learning center and basketball courts in the neighborhood he grew up in. To continue on with that, and pay tribute to another of Brandon’s stepping stones, Jennings former school Oak Hill Academy, Under Armour has created a white, red and gold colorway of Brandon’s first signature model, the UA Micro G Black Ice. The low-cut version of the Micro G Black Ice features patent red around the toebox and a white leather upper. Aside from the Oak Hill matching colors, underneath the transparent shattered ice outsole resides the team’s Warriors labeling, also done in the red and gold. Brandon’s signature is stitched into the underside of the tongue label as the finishing touches.

Brandon Jennings is on the verge of leading the Milwaukee Bucks into the playoffs for the second straight year. Currently, the Bucks sit a couple of games out of the eighth spot in this year’s standings, in large part thanks to the 15.4 points per game and 4.9 assists per game that Jennings is averaging.

Earlier this season, Brandon Jennings and Under Armour launched the young star’s first signature shoe, the UA Micro G Black Ice. Brandon has been seen in a number of colorways throughout the season in our Sneaker Watch coverage, but earlier this week he took to the court in a new colorway against the Knicks.

The colorway of the Micro G Black Ice comes is a black-based version with red and white details. A red midsole separates the translucent outsole from the black upper, while the toebox is wrapped in white patent that is boldly displaying the Under Armour logo in metallic silver. Cushioning duties are handled by Under Armour’s Micro G cushioning, which creates not only step-in comfort, but also responsiveness to keep up with a player like Jennings.

Under Armour Micro G Black Ice – New Colorways

Looking to change the game, footwear and apparel brand Under Armour launched a strong basketball campaign for the first time ever this fall, led by Brandon Jennings of the Milwaukee Bucks and his Micro G Black Ice signature shoe. After nearly two years of keeping fans of Brandon’s game waiting for the official launch, this past October finally marked the first stage of the much anticipated basketball category’s entry into the footwear market.

“I just felt like we should take our time. There was no rush,” Jennings explained to Sole Collector at the brand’s unveiling party in New York City. “Everybody was waiting for it, and we had Nike nervous, and they didn’t know when were going to come out with what, so it was just patience. We had patience and we have the right shoe, we have the right development, and everything was right about the shoe.”

The Black Ice, named after Jennings’ favorite car freshener, features a low to the ground feel thanks to its Micro G high-rebound foam cushioning platform, and was developed to enhance his speed.

Thus far, we’ve seen colorways that correspond with his Milwaukee Bucks uniforms, like the home White/ Black/Red version and an away Black/ Forest Green/ Red makeup. However, two new colorways are dropping, and we’ll have them here at Eastbay in the coming weeks.

The first new look we see is the “Trick or Treat” colorway that was made for Brandon to celebrate Halloween. The shoe features a perforated suede upper, patent leather toe and Black Ice graphic-laden forefoot strap. Familiar festive colors of black and blaze orange can be seen throughout, offering a loud contrast and hitting the laces, crosshair logo on the heel, Brandon’s signature and the translucent outsole.

Next up may be the “cleanest” look we’ve seen to date. White synthetic materials on the upper are accented by a candy red forefoot cross-strap and matching detailing on the tongue, heel branding and Jennings signature.

Both styles officially release the first week of January, but you can reserve your pair today.
