JORDAN RETRO 6 ‘UNIVERSITY BLUE’ – DEC. 2 AT 10 AM ET

11.29 AJ 6 Featured

Jordan has been paying tribute to MJ’s alma mater quite a bit this year, and it makes sense — it’s where His Airness’ legend was born. Plus, Carolina’s University Blue color always winds up looking fresh on a sneaker. This time around, it’s the Retro 6s that head back to college. A black nubuck upper is highlighted by University Blue accents along the tongue, heel, and midsole for a brand-new take on a classic retro style. Men’s $189.99. Boys’ $139.99.

JORDAN AJ XXXII LOW ‘WIN LIKE ‘96’ – DEC. 2 AT 10 AM ET

11.29 XXXII Blog

One of those previous callbacks to MJ’s college years was on Nov. 4, when Jordan dropped the AJ XXXII ‘Win Like ‘82’s. They paid homage to Mike’s legendary 1982 college season that culminated in a national championship. So, to follow up that release, they are dropping the ‘Win Like ‘96’s. They are obviously inspired by one of the greatest seasons in basketball history, MJ’s title-winning 1996 season with Chicago. Chicago’s signature red and black colors are the feature here, as well as an icy, translucent outsole that helps complete the look. Men’s $159.99. Boys’ $119.99.

GIRLS’ JORDAN RETRO 13 ‘ITALY BLUE’ – DEC. 2 AT 10 AM ET

11.29 13 Blog

To cap things off for this weekend’s releases, we have another fresh girls’ exclusive Jordan colorway. Influenced by MJ’s love for Italy, these Retro 13s have a smooth white leather upper, a wolf grey toe, and blue suede overlays along the heel and midsole. It’s a bold look, sure to turn plenty of heads, and it’s just what you need to upgrade your sneaker rotation. Girls’ $139.99.

It’s almost unbelievable the impact Michael Jordan had on the NBA and the sneaker industry, and the impact he has had on his alma mater might still be the biggest he’s made. The North Carolina basketball program has always been competitive, in fact the team went undefeated and won a national championship in 1957. However, since Michael hit the game winning shot for the NCAA title in 1982, the team has went on to win three more national titles along with dozens of ACC titles.

In addition to Michael’s impact on the court, Jordan Brand has been a partner of the University of North Carolina for a number of years. As the brand celebrates 25 years, they’ve created a collection of  special silver anniversary shoes and apparel. Adding to this year’s growing collection of anniversary product are the Jordan 25th Anniversary North Carolina Uniforms. The Tarheels wore these during their short appearance in the ACC tournament, and now the designs are available through Eastbay. Despite coming off of a championship last season, their season this year has been disappointing. Like Michael did many times before in his successful career, the Tarheels will bounce back, and dedicated fans will want to add this 25th Anniversary Uniform to the collection.
