Blake Griffin is easily one of the most exciting players to make the transition from the college level to the NBA in recent years. After sitting out his inaugural season with an injury, Griffin took the NBA by storm last season with countless jaw-dropping slam dunks. With the excitement of Griffin buzzing, and the 2011 All-Star Game and festivities being held at the Los Angeles Clippers home arena, the Staples Center, the team at Nike decided it was time to do something special for Blake’s basketball shoes.
With Blake competing in the Slam Dunk Contest, preparing to pull off an unbelievable dunk in which he jumps over an entire car, Nike created a special makeup of the Hyperdunk 2011. Considering the colorway features a Bright Mango colorway with 3M graphics, and glow in the dark accent panels, people noticed as he flew over the top of the Kia on his way to a Dunk Contest victory. On top of that, at the time, the Hyperdunk 2011 was just making its way onto the internet, so all the pieces fell into place perfectly for this appropriately nicknamed colorway, the 10.0 Hyperdunk 2011.
