Kawhi Leonard Has A Challenge For You

Kawhi Leonard Has A Challenge For You

Once Kawhi Leonard steps onto the court, his laid-back personality fades away and the game’s most relentless defender emerges.

Nobody wants to see the two-time Defensive Player of the Year matching up against them. His lock-down defense gives even the game’s best scorers headaches, and his offensive repertoire rivals anyone’s.

The 25-year-old’s scoring average has improved each season. These days, he puts up 25 points a night while also being tasked with shutting down the opposing team’s best player.

His versatility is a scary thought for opponents, but the fact that he’s still getting better is even scarier. The sky is the limit for Kawhi Leonard, and his rise has only just begun.

Kawhi’s Challenge To You

Kawhi Leonard is finishing up one of the best two-way seasons in league history. The defensive stalwart is easily one of the best defenders in the league, and in recent years he has become the focal point of San Antonio’s offense.

In a game where offense is king, Kawhi Leonard is the rare superstar who works on his defensive abilities as much as his offensive abilities. The mentality to dominate both ends of the court stems from Leonard’s experience as a football player in his youth.

It’s been about 10 months since the San Antonio Spurs suffered one of the biggest collapses in NBA Finals history. They were up 5 with just 28 seconds left to play in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals, but LeBron James and Ray Allen each hit clutch three-pointers to force overtime, where they’d steal the game and eventually the series. Many wondered how the Spurs would rebound after such a devastating loss. When Gregg Popovich is in your huddle, poise is never an issue.

On the bench for his 18th season with the Spurs, ‘Pop’ was as good as ever. San Antonio finished with a 62-20 record, the best record in the NBA and second highest win total during Popovich’s tenure. From late-February to early April the Spurs enjoyed a 19-game winning streak, tied for the sixth longest of all-time. On top of that, the team’s starters averaged just 26.9 minutes per game, dead last in the NBA. That means they’re as rested as possible to make another run at the NBA Finals.

For those reasons, Popovich was named the NBA’s Coach of the Year for the third time earlier today. He beat out Phoenix’s Jeff Hornacek and Chicago’s Tom Thibodeau for the award.

The Spurs return to the court for Game 2 of their first round playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks tomorrow night.

Honoring the servicemen and women of the Armed Forces, the San Antonio Spurs have unveiled a new military-inspired uniform. The uniforms will be debuted against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, November 13.

The camouflage-patterned uniforms were created to showcase the team’s pride in the city nicknamed ‘Military City USA.’ San Antonio is home to Joint Base San Antonio, a military installation that includes the Army’s Fort Sam Houston, Randolph Air Force Base and Lackland Air Force Base. It’s estimated that more than 300,000 active and retired military and government workers live in San Antonio.

San Antonio’s military uniforms are part of the adidas and NBA Pride Uniform Collection, inspired by each team’s core identity. The green, olive and sand-colored camouflage jerseys feature the iconic Spurs alternate logo on the front with black and silver vertical stripes on the sides. The stripes continue on the shorts and are also branded with the Spurs alternate logo. The Spurs will wear the military uniforms twice during the 2013-14 season.

The game against the Wizards is the first of multiple USAA Salute Night games during the season in which USAA is offering up to a 40% discount on tickets to active military and veterans.
