MLB: Things Are Looking up fo the Pirates

The reasons for celebration amongst Pittsburgh Pirates fans have been few and far between this season. However, today was surely one of the days worth celebrating. If the performance of their young outfielders Andrew McCutchen and Garrett Jones is any glimpse into the future, there seems to be a brightening light at the end of the tunnel.

Jones and McCutchen both had performances today worthy of adding to their career best list.

Center fielder Andrew McCutchen reached base six times, going 5-for-5 with a walk. Five of those six times reaching base, he came around to score thanks to two stolen bases and a solo home run.

Not to be outdone, right fielder Garrett Jones followed McCutchen in the line up, with a career day as well. Jones went 5-for-6 with five runs batted in, a double and a home run.

The slugging of McCutchen and Jones helped the Pirates overcome a 6-4 deficit and win the game 10-6. Not a bad way to start a road trip for the Pirates.
