Today, adidas and the University of Notre Dame unveiled alternate TECHFIT football uniforms for the Irish to wear during their annual Shamrock Series game on October 5. This year, the Irish will take on Arizona State at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Notre Dame’s TECHFIT jersey is all-white with metallic gold and kelly green shamrock accents. Celtic numbering and an interlocking “ND” logo appear on the back of the neck. The team’s kelly green TECHFIT baselayer displays “FIGHTIN’ IRISH” on the chest and “ND” on each bicep. The helmet features Notre Dame’s signature textured gold with a gold chrome sham rich on each side and a kelly green chrome face mask. Players will also wear Team Speed vertical socks with Crazyquick and 5-Star 2.0 cleats.
The new uniform were made using TECHFIT ShockWeb technology, designed to keep players fast, cool and mobile on-field. TECHFIT ShockWeb features engineered body mapping, which maximizes compression zones across the chest and sides, in a lightweight knit structure that provides a tight fit with enhanced range of motion. Integrated CLIMACOOL mesh zones create airflow to keep players cool in every temperature.

Celebrating tonight’s BCS National Championship Game, adidas Football has rounded up several Notre Dame football greats to reenact the famous newsreel pep talk speech by legendary coach Knute Rockne. In the video provided by adidas, Tony Rice, Irv Smith, Rick Mirer, Steve Beuerlein, Reggie Brooks, Shawn Wooden, Derrick Mayes and Anthony Fasano recite the final part of Knute’s speech.
We’re going inside of ‘em, we’re going outside of ‘em — inside of ‘em! outside of ‘em! — and when we get them on the run once, we’re going to keep ‘em on the run. And we’re not going to pass unless their secondary comes up too close. But don’t forget, men — we’re gonna get ‘em on the run, we’re gonna go, go, go, go! — and we aren’t going to stop until we go over that goal line! And don’t forget, men — today is the day we’re gonna win. They can’t lick us — and that’s how it goes… The first platoon men — go in there and fight, fight, fight, fight, fight! What do you say, men!
In a rematch of last season’s National Championship Game, the Baylor Bears took on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in South Bend last night. Closely contested for the most part, Baylor was able to pull away late behind Brittney Griner’s strong double-double to top the Irish 73-61. The loss was Notre Dame’s first of the year.
Despite dropping the game, the Lady Irish were winners with their sneaker selection, going with a team-wide wearing of the “90s Throwback” adidas Rose 3. The shoe is inspired by fashion of the era and features graffiti-style detailing on the tongues.

On September 1, Notre Dame and Navy will open the college football season playing the Emerald Isle Classic in Dublin, Ireland. For the occasion, adidas has created an Irish Flag-inspired colorway of the adiZero Smoke Mid and Low cleats for the Fighting Irish to wear on the field. As of now, there has been no announcement of a special uniform, but it’s safe to assume adidas has that in their plans. Last season, they developed a retro look for Notre Dame to wear in the “Under The Lights” Game against Michigan.
Notre Dame last played in Ireland back in 1996, when they defeated Navy 54-27 at Croke Park. This summer’s game will be played at the new Aviva Stadium.
Holding rank as the lightest mid and low-cut football cleats on the market, the adidas adiZero Smoke features a SprintSkin upper with internal TPU that offers lightweight support and acceleration. The toe has been reinforced for added protection, while a molded PU sockliner gives long-lasting comfort. SprintFrame outsole construction uses geometry to offer the perfect balance between light weight and stability. The heel cup locks the foot in place, preventing the heel from slipping during games. An innovative TraXion stud shape provides maximum acceleration and multidirectional traction on synthetic and natural surfaces.

To celebrate the first ever night game played at Michigan Stadium and the first primetime meeting between the Wolverines and Notre Dame since 1990, adidas Football has unveiled a special set of retro-style uniforms that will be worn for the game by both teams. ESPN will broadcast the game nationally at 8 p.m. EST on September 10th.
“We wanted to celebrate the long-standing heritage between two of the most successful programs in college football history for this special Under the Lights game,” said Jon Yuska, director of sports licensing design, adidas. “Michigan and Notre Dame’s jerseys are two of the most iconic in all of sports and these new vintage-inspired uniforms highlight design cues from throughout the schools’ rich football traditions.”
The Michigan Wolverines’ uniform combines design elements from different eras of Michigan football into its look. Featured is a large block M on the chest, player numbers above the heart, repeated striped sleeves and a quilted stitch design on the letters and numbers. For the first time since the late 1960s, player numbers also appear on Michigan’s signature winged helmet. Celebrating the team’s decorated history, “132 Years of Championship Football” is stitched on the inside collar and Michigan’s National Championship years are displayed on the inside bottom hem of the jersey.
“We are excited about playing in this intense rivalry, and this historic night game provides an opportunity to wear a retro-looking uniform that pays homage to our rich history,” said Michigan head football coach Brady Hoke. “Our players like the throwback uniforms and it will be something that is exciting for the fans.”
To salute the rich history of Notre Dame’s football program, the “Under the Lights” Irish uniform includes a white-based jersey with Kelly Green lettering and shoulder stripes, old gold pants, green-striped socks and white shoes. The traditional gold helmets are adorned with a large shamrock for the first time since the early 1960s. Also on the bottom hem of Notre Dame’s jersey are the years of their National Championships.
“We are happy to partner with adidas to help commemorate the first night game at Michigan Stadium with new uniforms,” said Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly. “It seems fitting that the two schools with the two best winning percentages in college football play in this historic game. I know our players are looking forward to the contest and both teams’ new uniforms will only add to the excitement in the Big House on September 10.”
Fans can purchase the Michigan and Notre Dame retro jerseys starting August 1 for $80. Later this summer, adidas will launch an “Under the Lights” fan collection – including retro style t-shirts, hats, jackets and sweatshirts featuring a vintage feel and design inspired by Michigan and Notre Dame football history and their long-standing rivalry.
