via Press Release

Today, Nike has officially unveiled the next generation of their flagship performance basketball sneakers, the Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 and Zoom Hyperdunk 2011. Both models are said to combine “unrivaled technical innovations and advantages,” designed for the player looking for breathability, durability, stability and lightweight footwear.

The birth of Hyperfuse technology can be traced back to a trip to China by the Nike Basketball design team back in 2009. After observing what they call extreme wear-and-tear on blacktop basketball surfaces, Nike sought to create a breathable, stable and resilient basketball shoe. That shoe, which launched approximately a year ago, was the Zoom Hyperfuse. Hyperfuse construction bonds three separate materials into one composite layer using heat and pressure to create a level of precision unattainable via traditional cut-and-sew methods.

In a men’s size 9, the Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 weighs in at just 12.5 ounces. The shoe minimizes bulk, while maximizing breathability and comfort. Additional features like new mesh zones, a midsole wrap and a reinforced collar uphold Nike Basketball’s design mandate to maximize superior performance innovations.

Check out detailed shots of the Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 below, as well as Nike’s official tech sheet for the new model.

The Fall 2011 Nike Basketball Collection is available at key retailers worldwide beginning July 1, 2011. Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 debuts July 1 in Greater China and July 15 in North America.

Nike Zoom Hyperfuse Low New Colorways

Nike Zoom Hyperfuse Low New Colorways

words // Nick Engvall

The Nike Zoom Hyperfuse, as our Sneaker Watch coverage has shown, has been a mainstay this season on the NBA courts. It seems the shoes popularity is only limited to how many new colorways Nike Basketball can come up with. Aside from the player exclusive models there have been plenty of team colorways, as well as the mid-season introduction of the low top version, to help fill the demand. Nike Basketball has stepped up with a new set of colorups just in time for summer hoops.

Team Orange, Lucky Green, Photo Blue, and Varsity Purple colorways of the Zoom Hyperfuse Low, each featuring the ever-popular translucent outsole, make for great options for those late summer nights in the gym or under the street lights. Of course the impressive colorways also include the Fuse technology upper, and the Zoom Air and phylon cushioning that has the Hyperfuse weighing just a touch over 12 ounces, so you’ll have the responsiveness and speed that can keep up with the league’s best.

Slowly, but surely, the black and volt make up of the Zoom Hyperfuse has become one of the most anticipated colorways set to release. Taking on an “Air Attack Pack” type color blocking, this latest pair sports an all black Hyperfuse constructed upper. Volt becomes the center of attention taking place on the midsole and outsole below, and is also seen taking place along the inner lining and tongue branding.

Those of you looking to pick these up can secure your pair from Eastbay today. They’ll be ready to ship November 5th.
