Yesterday, the who’s who of the NBA converged on the UNLV Gym in Las Vegas to begin training for 2012 USA Basketball. The group led by superstars such as Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Kevin Durant will soon be narrowed down to a roster of 12 that will travel to London later this month to compete in the Summer Olympic Games. Training camp in Vegas, will culminate in an exhibition game against the Dominican Republic at the Thomas & Mack on Thursday, July 12, and from there the team will train and play one exhibition game in Washington, D.C., and Manchester, England, and two exhibition contests in Barcelona, Spain, before arriving in London. This series of exhibition games will be part of the 2012 World Basketball Festival, a global celebration of the game put on by Nike.
As part of the World Basketball Festival, Nike Basketball is releasing a special pack of footwear featuring the brand new Hyperdunk and signature models of LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. The trio of sneakers are linked together by a common color scheme of royal blue, navy and gold, as well as a special World Basketball Festival logo that appears on the tongue of the Hyperdunk and heels of the LeBron 9 Low and Kobe VII.
Game Royal and navy work the Hyperfuse-constructed upper of the LeBron 9 Low, which also features University Gold on the Swoosh border and 360-Max Air sole. White also fills in the midsole, tongue signature and Swoosh branding on the side panels.
Kobe’s WBF VII is built with a durable polyurethane shell in obsidian, backed by a golden external heel counter for extra stability. Gold also works the Swoosh and Kobe logos, while the interior is lined in royal blue. The lower portion of the Zoom-cushioned midsole is done in white and sits atop a grey rubber outsole.
The Hyperdunk features a navy synthetic and royal mesh upper, accented by University Gold on the Swoosh branding, exposed Flywire support cables and Lunarlon cushioned sole.
