Continuing our look at player edition Nike baseball cleats for some of the best in the big leagues, we now bring you a first-hand look at this PE edition of the Air Max Diamond Elite exclusively for Matt Holliday. Holliday began his career after unexpectedly breaking onto the major league scene in 2004 as a member of the Colorado Rockies due to injuries to several Rockies major league players at the time. Now a member of the N.L Central power house St. Louis Cardinals, Holliday has been one of the most productive offensive forces in the league ever since he first made a name for himself as a key-component in the Colorado Rockies 2007 World Series run.
Currently in his second-full season as a member of the Cardinals, Holliday looks to pull through his current disabled list stint and continue to lead his Cardinals to yet another N.L Central divison title, where they currently hold a 2 game lead over the Brewers. Holliday will lead the Cards alongside Pujols and their flawless pitching in this PE pair of the Air Max Diamond Elite. Suited for both the Cardinals home and road uniforms, they work in a combination of red, white and blue throughout the upper. Personalization for Holliday is seen throughout, with ‘MH 7’ taking place on the tongue and heel tab, and a unique Matt Holliday logo stitched into the heel.
Enjoy a closer look at Matt’s player exclusive below, and look for him to continue to lead the Cardinals to victory in this exact pair of the Nike Air Max Diamond Elite.
Four days prior to Cal Ripken Jr. announcing that he’d hang his Baltimore Orioles uniform for good at the end of the 2001 season, a young kid by the name of Brian Roberts made his major league debut. Since then, B-Rob has become a Baltimore fan favorite and one of the faces of a franchise that hasn’t had much else to smile about since he made an instant impact in his rookie year. The two-time All-Star, known for being a double hitting and base stealing machine, missed the bulk of last season with a nagging back injury. Looking to reverse the bad fortune of the Orioles and himself, Roberts is back on the field this season and doing his daily work in player exclusive colorways of the Nike Air Max Diamond Elite MTL.
The Air Max Diamond Elite is a lightweight Nike baseball cleat that enables Brian to max out on his speed when stealing bases. Incorporated technology includes Power Channel Flex Grooves for enhances traction and Max Air cushioning in the heel. The Baltimore-inspired cleat features a perforated white patent leather base with black and orange accenting throughout. Roberts’ BR1 is stitched on the front side of the tongue pull-tab and embroidered on the heel as well. Lastly, the heel tab notes Bible passage 1:9, which states, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Take a detailed look at Brian’s Air Max Diamond Elite MTL below.
We first saw the Nike Air Max Diamond Elite Fly in exclusive colorways for the 2010 All Star Game participants in the MLB Boom Pack. Then we saw a customized version on the feet of Brian Wilson after the league fined him for the bright orange colorway, and Manny Ramirez showed up with them in a recent MLB Watch.
Finally, though, the Nike Air Max Diamond Elite Fly is now available to everyone. It even looks like these colorways should be safe to use in just about any league you play in. With a smooth toe piece, patent leather and a Max Air unit in the heel, the Air Max Diamond Elite Fly could arguably be one of the most aesthetically pleasing cleat designs to come from Nike.
