Ahead of Mariano Rivera’s final game at Yankees Stadium last night, Nike Baseball gifted the legendary reliever with a special ‘Sierra Circular’ (Circular Saw) box, named after his famous cutter pitch. The inscription on the box reads:
Mo, Thank You for the Ride.
Thanks for the stunning saves and clutch wins.
Thanks for the starts when you started, and thank you for closing like no one ever has.
Thanks for the amazing composure, and the cutter.
More than all of that, thank you, Mariano, for doing it the right way.
Thank you for playing with the integrity the number 42 deserves.
You always won – and lost – with dignity. And you always inspired so
many with your game, and so many more with the way you played it.
The ‘Sierra Circular’ box includes:
-The custom Destroyer Jacket features the words “Sierra Circular”, the number 42 on the right chest, the American Flag with Phil 4:13 verse on the right sleeve and the Flag of Panama on the left sleeve. The back of the jacket is inscribed with “Cortador” (cutter) and an interlocking Rivera logo.
-The Mariano custom cleat features the number 42 on the tongue and sockliner. The American flag is highlighted under the tongue flap of the right shoe and the Flag of Panama is featured under the tongue flap of the left shoe.
-The Nike Pro Gold Tradition glove is inscribed with his name and jersey number.
-Nike TR MAX 360 features a silver Nike swoosh and “Sierra circular” on the heel and “Cortador” on the tab. The American flag is embossed on the inside of the tongue of the right shoe and the Flag of Panama is on the inside of the tongue on the left shoe.

-Nike True Fitted wool blend hat with reflective “MO42” applique on the front, NY logo and “Cortador” on the sides and Nike Swoosh on the back.

New Balance has announced the signing of New York Yankees All-Star center fielder Curtis Granderson to a multi-year endorsement contract. Under the terms of the deal, New Balance will be Granderson’s official on-field footwear and off-field athletic footwear and apparel provider.
“I’m excited to partner with New Balance. Their cleats are comfortable and I feel good knowing I can put on a brand new pair before a game and be ready to play right away.” says Granderson. “Another major factor that drove me towards New Balance is the company’s commitment to giving back. Their support of my Grand Kids Foundation will help me take my charity to the next level.”
“New Balance is thrilled to partner with Curtis, an All-Star athlete who shares our commitment to our local communities,” says Mark Cavanaugh, general manager of sports marketing at New Balance. “New Balance looks forward to supporting his work with children through the Grand Kids Foundation.”
Granderson’s Grand Kids Foundation works to improve education for young people across the country, as well as to offer more opportunities for urban youths to play baseball. New Balance will support Grand Kids Foundation events throughout the year.
Throughout the current MLB season, Granderson will be wearing a special make-up for the New Balance 40/40 Metal Low baseball spike. A lightweight, low-profile cleat for the fastest player on the diamond, the MB4040 offers high performance running technologies to eliminate spike pressure and provide an athlete superior comfort and fit on the field. A new spike plate design eliminates 30% of the weight compared to the previous spike plate and a supportive overlay on the upper secures the foot during quick movements on the field.
With the move, Granderson joins a New Balance Baseball roster that includes Hanley Ramirez, Dustin Pedroia, Andre Ethier, Ubaldo Jiminez and teammate Nick Swisher.
Read on for photos of Curtis playing in New Balance, including his special Jackie Robinson Day cleats.

Before yesterday, it was arguable as to who is the greatest closer in the history of Major League Baseball. We can now end that conversation, after Yankee great Mariano Rivera surpassed Trevor Hoffman as Major League Baseball’s all-time save leader with 602. To celebrate one of the biggest accomplishments of Mariano’s career as a member of the New York Yankees, the Swoosh has released this limited edition “Mo Knows Saves” T-Shirt.
Released in limited quantities, the commemorative t-shirt displays the phrase “Mo Knows Saves” on the front chest, similar to the phrase which originated during Bo Jackson’s professional days with the Swoosh. Aside from the classic phrase, we see the number 602 on the back, along with a special Mariano Rivera logo to commemorate Mo’s career-long dominance late in games.
The Nike “Mo Knows Saves” T-Shirt is now available in limited quantities from Eastbay.

The Phillies may have added former Houston Astros outfielder Hunter Pence to the team before the MLB trade deadline, but, for the last week or so, it’s been the club’s veteran’s Cliff Lee and Jimmy Rollins that have carried them to a 9-game lead in the National League East. Now at 77-40, the Philadelphia Phillies are hands down the best team in baseball based on their record.
The second best team in the league after a 4-game winning streak, is the Boston Red Sox. Boston struggled early in the season, with high expectations leading to even a solid winning record being a disappointment, have now seemed to have the pieces in place for a strong run into the postseason. Most importantly, closer Jonathan Papelbon, who had one of the worst cold streaks of his career early, has now run off 21 consecutive saves, and is one of the hottest pitchers in all of Major League Baseball.
Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees are also playing well and as we expect every year, the American League East will be a great race to watch for the last month of the season.

New York Yankees fans got to see their Captain, Derek Jeter, have one of his best games of the season as he went 5 for 5 to become the 28th player in Major League Baseball history to reach the elusive 3,000 hit milestone. While we gave you detailed interview with Octavio Lubrano, designer of Derek Jeter’s Jordan shoes, there is no doubt that baseball fans will want to capture this historical moment.
Jordan Brand has created two colorways of a special edition t-shirt that pays tribute to Derek Jeter’s recent accomplishment. The design features an artistic rendition of Jeter’s somewhat signature form of acknowledgement, the tipping of his helmet to the crowd. On the back of each shirt reads 3,000, to commemorate the accomplishment. The shirts are available in a Navy and a Grey version, and the Navy features the iconic Yankees pinstripes through the 3,000 graphics.
