The first two rounds of the 2012 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament are in the books, having provided some of the same great finishes and upset victories that make us tune in every March. 16 teams are still on the board, with all four number one seeds making it through (UNC, Syracuse, MSU, Kentucky), along with three surprise underdogs (Ohio, NC State, Xavier).

The tournament action continues on Thursday, March 22, with the East and West regional semi-finals.

The 2012 NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament officially kicks off tomorrow with “First Four” games in Dayton, Ohio. March Madness continues through the rest of March, concluding with the championship game at the New Orleans Superdome on April 2. As most of you fill out last-minute brackets, agonizing over which 12-5 upset to pick (hint: all of them), let’s take a closer look at some of the footwear choices on the tournament’s best players in the latest edition of NCAA Watch.

Duke freshman Austin Rivers finally got his shot on the big stage last night, proving his talents to the entire nation with a game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer to take down the rival North Carolina Tar Heels.

The buzzer-beating three pointer capped a furious rally led by Austin Rivers, who finished with a game-high 29 points in the win. Rivers’ 29 points was also a season high, setting the record for most points scored by a Duke Freshman versus the Tar Heels.

A variety of Nike and the Jordan Brand’s latest basketball footwear was seen all over the court, as several Blue Devils pulled out the Kobe VII and the Tar Heels debuted the all new Air Jordan 2012 Deluxe.

NCAA Watch: Oregon Takes Rose Bowl Over Wisconsin 45-38

As expected, the Rose Bowl between the Oregon Ducks and the Wisconsin Badgers turned out to be one of the highest scoring BCS Bowl Games yet.

Getting off to a quick start, the first half between the Ducks and Badgers displayed enough offense for one game, with the halftime score tied at 28. The second half proved to be just as entertaining, as both teams continued their successful offensive play.

The Ducks ended up with the victory over the Badgers 45-38, earning their first Rose Bowl victory in almost 95 years. The Ducks were led by some amazing play from speedsters LaMichael James and the young DeAnthony Thomas, along with quarterback Darron Thomas who passed for three touchdowns. The victory was Oregon’s first-ever bowl victory under head coach Chip Kelly.
