This year’s models of the Tiempo, Magista, Mercurial, and Hypervenom soccer boots have been smash hits. Beloved by many of the world’s best, they are the perfect blend of innovative new technology and proven performance.
Just a couple months ago, Nike released the wildly popular ‘Liquid Chrome’ Pack. These sleek colorways were a fresh take on their top soccer silos. Now, they have ‘shifted’ those metallic colors onto the accent colors of the ‘Liquid Shift’ Pack. They perfectly contrast the bold, bright main colors for a flashy, summery look.
The Tiempo has already set the soccer world on fire this season with its introduction of an internal midfoot cage. The all-new feature gives the cleat incredible support and unmatched durability. To keep the spark alive, and help keep you torching defenders, Nike’s latest colorway offers a jolt of crimson.
However, the most unique look has been saved for the most versatile players. The Magista is built for the ones who make the clutch shots AND passes. To help give these athletes their due, a green glow honeycomb design combines with a hyper grape upper to really help this cleat shine.
Good luck finding a cleat more explosive than the Mercurial. It’s built from the ground up to help attackers blow by their opposition. A bright mango color ensures your style is just as head-turning.
The crown jewel of the ‘Liquid Shift’ pack may very well be the bright green Hypervenom. The cleat’s luxurious fit and first-class control have always ensured that you play like a million bucks, and now this bold colorway makes sure that you look the part too.
So, the Nike ‘Liquid Shift’ Pack makes certain you are hard to miss and hard to catch. These are also available in Kids’ sizes for those who want to shine at a young age. Grab your favorite, lace up, and light up every minute.
With spring soccer season right around the corner, it’s time to get new cleats. Let’s break down some of this season’s hottest options to help you start the year off right.
Leading this year’s fast break is the Nike Tiempo Legend VI. This boot is designed from the ground up for one thing: domination. It is constructed out of Kangaroo leather with All Conditions Control tech to ensure that you get elite touch and control in any weather. But the truly game-changing feature is the new internal midfoot cage, which helps maintain the cleat’s shape for unparalleled support and stability.
However, this year, Nike’s entire lineup of women’s soccer boots is making waves. The Mercurial, Magista, and Hypervenom all give you different ways to dominate.
The Nike Mercurial Veloce 2 is built for the speedy forward with its direct inject TPU studs for explosive traction in all directions. It also has a seamless upper to keep things lightweight and comfortable.
If you are more of a creator who makes plays with your passing and your shooting, the Nike Magista Opus might be more your style. A compressed nylon and Pebax® plate works naturally with your foot while added mesh on the upper keeps things breathable.
Finally, if you want to be that elite goal scorer, nothing tops the Nike Hypervenom Phantom 2. The upper consists of a Dynamic Fit collar and Flywire cables for a premium fit while a molded sockliner reduces stud pressure for incredible comfort. The cleats truly are a throne worthy of the best scorers on the pitch.
This year’s best soccer cleats don’t stop at Nike though. Adidas has come out on attack this year with the X and the Ace models.
The X is aptly named. It’s made for the X factors: the women who tilt the momentum the second they step on the field. Its Techfit collar provides flexible ankle support and a sock-like fit. The boot’s triangular studs are placed so you can change directions on a dime without a loss in speed.
Is fit and feel number one on your checklist? Then the adidas Ace 16.1 Primemesh is what you need. A completely new Primemesh vamp material hugs the mid and forefoot areas for unmatched fit that’ll last all game long.
Finally, let’s focus on speed. Game-breaking, jaw-dropping SPEED. That’s what the PUMA EvoSPEED offers. Conical and bladed studs give you terrific traction while a Pebax® Speedtrack spine gives you the mind-blowing explosiveness to leave your opponents, records, doubters — you name it — in the dust.
And that’s just cleats! From tanks to hoodies to anything else, you can get the gear you need to match your new cleat or favorite color only at eastbay.com.

Meet Michael Bradley, Team USA’s do-it-all midfielder and Eastbay cover athlete. The Princeton, New Jersey native took a break from his intense training to talk to us about Team USA, Brazil 2014, and the new Nike Magista cleat.
Having turned pro at age 16 and being part of U.S. National Team for the past 9 years, Michael brings valuable experience and leadership to the team’s midfield – and he’s only 26 years old. He’s looking to help lead Team USA to success this summer in Brazil and beyond.
“Representing your country is the greatest honor an athlete can have. The opportunity to represent the United States of America and all the fans as a nation, to wear the colors, and know that you’re representing so many people, you can’t describe it. In your career, you may play for a lot of different teams and coaches and in different places but there will always be something unique about stepping on the field and representing your country.”
Michael has played on the biggest stages, including Italy’s Serie A and England’s Premier League and at the 2010 tournament in South Africa. With experience playing at the highest level, the USA’s #4 knows how great of a challenge the team faces this summer, but is confident they can be successful.
“The group speaks for itself. There are four really good teams and you could talk all day about Germany, Portugal, and Ghana and how strong they are and how difficult these games will be. But, the reality is, none of those teams will be happy to be in our group either. None of those teams will be excited about the idea of playing us. We understand that when you get to a World Cup, to do well requires playing at your absolute highest level. It requires the ability to not only play against good teams, but to beat good teams. For us, the challenge comes right away.”
To prepare to win in Brazil, Michael is focusing on training, helping Toronto win games, and staying at the top of his game.
“At the moment, it’s about training every day with my club team, keeping myself fit, and trying to improve each and every day. When games come around, I’m having as big an impact as possible and having that good run of form leading up to the World Cup.”
At this summer’s tournament, the former AS Roma player will be lacing up Nike’s new Magista cleat, which utilizes Flyknit technology to create a sock-like fitting upper out of a single thread.
“You put the cleat on and it feels like a slipper. The material is as natural as it can be. It molds to your foot right away. I was surprised by how fast I got used to it and how much I like to shoot with it. It’s certainly a new look and something innovative.”
You can control the game and prepare to win like Michael by getting the best and most trusted soccer gear, including Nike Magista cleats, at Eastbay.

From the first look, it’s clear that Nike Magista is different than traditional soccer cleats. Already trusted by some of the game’s most versatile playmakers, including Spain’s Andres Iniesta, Brazil’s David Luiz, and USA’s Michael Bradley, Nike’s innovative boot sports Flyknit technology, a unique high-top design, and a textured upper.
A recent addition to Nike’s top basketball and running shoes, Flyknit technology now makes its way into the world’s greatest game. Flyknit is constructed with a revolutionary manufacturing process that allows the cleat’s upper to be made from a single thread. This creates an unbelievably lightweight feel and sock-like fit without sacrificing essential foot protection.
Magista’s Flyknit upper is complemented by its high-top design, which locks the cleat to the ankle. This unique style enhances support and fit while promoting awareness of movement, giving creative players more confidence to test their abilities on the field.
To top this innovative cleat off, Nike finished Magista with a 3D texture on the upper, which amplifies ball touch for easy control and skillful dribbling.
While the design looks different, Magista is sure to be a hit. Michael Bradley, Toronto FC and Team USA’s do-it-all midfielder, had high praise for the cleat he wears on field. “You put the cleat on and it feels like a slipper,” Michael says. “The material is as natural as it can be. It molds to your foot right away. I was surprised by how fast I got used to it and how much I like to shoot with it. It’s certainly a new look and something innovative.”
The cleat is available in men’s, grade school, preschool, and toddler sizes. Plus, it’s releasing in multiple versions, including firm ground, artificial ground, and indoor, so you can prepare to win on the surface that suits your game. See it at Brazil. Get it at Eastbay.
