Skateboarder Mike “Mo” Capaldi’s latest signature shoe from Lakai is now available for pre-order. The new colorway is a collaborative effort with one of the Southern California native’s other sponsors, Girl Skateboards. Standard issue specs like Equa-Form cushioning, EVA midsole and XLK cupsole are included, as well as Lakai’s energy rebound insole which adds a little bounce to your step with sufficient cushioning. Details that give a nod to Girl Skateboards include the color choices and Girl badging on the lower heel. A grip-happy gum sole with a high-flex trad pattern does all it can to keep your Lakai’s and your Girl connected.

Lakai is set to release a new silhouette for the fall. It’s called the Lakai Rolan, and it’s got all of the right pieces to serve as a solid skate shoe. Details include a semi-padded tongue, padded collar and material mix of suede and leather. Perforations are strategically placed for breathability and a full-length shock-absorbing insole adds comfort as well. Lakai’s sticky rubber sole handles the duties of keeping you connected and in control of your board.
Look for these to be available in early October.
Lakai Footwear was founded in 1999 on one principle, “The Shoes We Skate.” Over ten years later, that approach has not only proven to be successful, but also one that separates Lakai from many other skate brands that have gone to a more fashionable approach with skate shoes.
One of their team rider’s who has proven his abilities on the skateboard over the years, is Brandon Biebel. The Sacramento/Hollywood resident has been skating since the age of 12, and doing big things for skateboarding ever since. For proof check out one of the Lakai Fully Flared DVDs, where Biebel shows how to put his Lakai shoes to use.
The second Biebel Pro Model from Lakai is the Lakai Biebel LK. It uses a Lakaitning sole construction to keep weight to a minimum, a tacky gun outsole for increased grip, and a form fitting upper for increased board control. The minimal stitching on the toebox also adds to the extra board control. Brandon himself lent his expertise to the design, and tested the shoes as well, so you can bet that these perform, no matter what level of skateboarding you partake in.
