Kevin Durant’s premier KD V signature arrives here at Eastbay in a lively green-based color scheme.
Already extremely popular amongst fans of the young Scoring Champ, the KD V Nike Basketball shoes utilize a full synthetic upper, Max Air cushioning in the heel and Zoom Air in the forefoot for maximum impact protection. Turning things up for the upcoming spring and summer months, this latest KD V sports a combination of atomic teal, volt and and dark atomic teal.
Kevin Durant is known for being a relentless worker. If you’re ever having trouble locating him, your best bet would be the gym. Rookie of the Year, four All-Star appearances, three scoring titles and two international gold medals don’t come without making a sacrifice. KD is deserving of some time off, but the daily grind continues with the ultimate goal of an NBA Championship in mind. So, with a vacation out of question, Nike Basketball decided to bring the beach to him with this new colorway of his KD V signature shoe.
This KD V features a sandy tan Hyperfuse upper, accented by OKC-inspired hits of Photo Blue and Melon on the laces, inner lining and tongue logo. Birch handles the heel counter and midsole, which sits atop a gum rubber outsole.
Want to get away? The “Beach” KD V is available now.
Since its 2008 launch, Kevin Durant’s Nike Basketball signature line has consisted of styles packed with heavy inspiration from his personal life. From his mother Wanda Pratt to his Oklahoma City Thunder teammates, every important element of KD’s life has been part of his sneakers at one point or another. Those intimate details also extend to colorways, including the brand new “DMV” colorway of the Nike KD V.
For those who don’t know, “DMV” is a regional nickname for D.C., Maryland and Virginia, where Durant was born, raised and groomed into the baller he is today. The “DMV” KD V is inspired by the flag of Maryland, represented by a Bright Crimson colorway with red, yellow and black accents to salute Durant’s home state.
Additional “DMV” details are hidden on the shoe’s outsole, illustrates Kevin’s road to stardom through a unique outsole, midsole texture, tongue quilting and heel counter details.
After much anticipation, Nike Basketball officially unveils the KD V. In the brand’s words, Kevin Durant’s fifth signature model is designed with premium materials and leading performance technologies to represent the evolution of Durant and his style of play.
At the helm once again was Footwear Design Director Leo Chang, who combined inspirational cues drawn from Durant’s personal journey with symbolism from the number five and wrapped the elements up in a premium performance package.
“Championship drive takes an entire team, and the new KD V represents the roadmap I follow,” said Kevin Durant. “Leo did a great job on the shoe by combining the best technology with my journey and what the number five means to me.”
With an aesthetic likened to Durant’s smooth, fluid style of play, the KD V integrates four leading Nike technologies: 1) a Nike Zoom unit in the forefoot, 2) Nike Air unit in the heel 3) unibody Hyperfuse upper construction for superior fit 4) external heel counter to allow the foot to move while still providing support.
The shoe’s hidden story comes from five players united on the court, five sides of a pentagon – a Washington D.C. landmark, five corners of a star, and Durant’s fifth Nike signature shoe. This story is illustrated through a unique outsole, midsole texture, tongue quilting and heel counter details.
Now officially launched, the KD V is available in the Oklahoma City ‘Away’ Black/Blue colorway.
