Sole Shots: Air Jordan XI Spotlight
words_Brandon Richard
It’s hard to argue against the Air Jordan XI being the most popular sneaker from the Jordan signature line. Designed by the legendary Tinker Hatfield, the Jordan XI marked Michael’s return to the game after returning from a brief retirement in 1995. The sneaker is iconic for several reasons; patent leather mudguard, carbon fiber spring plate and translucent “icy” outsole. Not to mention, Michael’s Bulls won 72 games in the 95-96 season en route to the first of three consecutive championships.
Next Thursday, the Air Jordan XI will return in the always-popular “Cool Grey” colorway. This retro originally dropped in 2001, and was an instant hit within the sneaker community. In fact, the release caused riotous behavior at several retail locations, resulting in injury and property damage. That is history that we’d obviously not like to see repeated, and that’s why it’s important to have the opportunity to pick up a pair online here at Eastbay.
The Jordan XI is also one of the favorite subjects shot by sneaker photographers over at the Sole Collector Forum. While we prepare for next week’s big release, take a look at some quality XI photos.
