Derek Jeter’s list of defining moments could possibly be endless. The Yankees’ shortstop has been the leader of his team, mesmerizing fans and opponents with incredible plays on both the offensive and defensive side of the game since he joined the Yankees in 1995. It might be difficult to choose the plays that qualify as best in Jeter’s decorated career, but Jordan Brand has hand picked nine of Jeter’s Defining Moments to use as inspiration for his latest signature cleat, the Jordan Jeter Throwback.
The most notable details include his DJ2 logo on the top of the tongue, the baseball logo on the heel which also features his jersey number, and the Jumpman Jordan from the Air Jordan 11 that graces themid-section of the tongue. Those with a keen eye will also notice the dates for his accomplishments on the heel panel and ankle, and the subtle pinstripes on the tongue that tie to his New York Yankees jersey and the jersey number “2” subtly peeking through the perforations on the side panel.
Look for these to become available exclusively on Eastbay.com soon! In the meantime, check out the rest of the Jordan Jeter Collection that is available.
Very few players in Major League Baseball have worn the Jordan logo as part of their uniform. Derek Jeter is by far the only one to have a history of Jordan shoes that is worthy of making a “best of” tribute shoe.
If this image looks familiar, it should. One of the key shoes that was used as a part of creating the Jordan Jeter Throwback is the Air Jordan 11, a shoe which Jeter wore on his way to winning the World Series Most Valuable Player Award in 2000. The “Jumpman Jordan” across the tongue was an unforgettable element on the Jordan 11, and adds the same pop to the Jeter Throwback.
As one of baseball’s all time greatest short stops, Derek Jeter has plenty to be proud of throughout his career. As a team member of Jordan Brand, Jeter’s footwear is (almost) as memorable as his accomplishments on the field. For his latest signature, the Jordan Jeter Throwback, nine of his most memorable moments on the field, and the shoes on his feet at the time, have been captured in the design inspiration.
New York Yankee superstar Derek Jeter has had a career full of unforgettable highlights, and the inspiration for the latest sneaker in his signature line comes from the shoes he was wearing during some of those memorable and miraculous plays. After last season’s World Series Championship, the fifth for Jeter, it only seems appropriate to commemorate the ten time all-star.
With a list of baseball cleats and turf shoes that easily rivals the signature lines of the greatest athletes in other sports, the Jeter Throwback continues with Jeter specific detailing such as the “DJ2” home plate logo on the tongue. On the heel, a baseball logo is placed, again with Derek’s number 2 placed inside. Also included are elements from the Air Jordan 6, Air Jordan 9, and Air Jordan 11, all styles that made the transition from the hardwood to the baseball diamond in exclusive colorways specially made for Jeter. All in all, nine shoes from Jeter’s footwear career are used to create the appropriately named Jordan Jeter Throwback.
