With New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter on the verge of becoming the 28th player to join Major League Baseball’s 3,000 Hit Club, the Jordan Brand has gifted him with a commemorative DJ3K footwear and apparel collection. Included in the collection are special colorways of the Jordan Jeter Cut Cleat and Jordan Jeter Cut Trainer, a special set of batting gloves and a t-shirt. Jeter will be wearing the cleats and gloves on the field when he reaches the 3,000 hit milestone, starting tonight against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Designed especially for Jeter’s road to 3,000 hits, the Jeter Cut Cleat features a gold Jeter logo, outsole and accents on the upper representing Jeter’s achievement and initiation into the exclusive 3,000 hits club. Prior to his first day of high school, Jeter’s father drew up a mock contract of chores and responsibilities he’d agree to take on with a signature. The contract itself has been replicated on the sockliners of the shoes and is also engraved into the packaging. The woven labels on the back of the tongues include his contract signature “I agree, Derek Jeter” as well as his high school number 13 and current number 2.

The special Jeter Cut Trainer, his tenth signature shoe, pays homage to Derek’s days as a member of the Kalamazoo Central High baseball team. Like the cleat, the trainer features the contract replicated sockliners.

Jeter’s custom batting gloves feature gold accents on the back-of-hand, Jumpman logo along with his high school and current number.

While the Jordan shoes and batting gloves from the DJ3K Collection are exclusive to Jeter, fans can celebrate his milestone with the new DJ3K shirt. The DJ3K t-shirt comes in both blue and grey and will be sold at major sporting goods retailers for $25.

How often do you see a baseball player get a tenth signature shoe with one brand? How often do you see an athlete in any sport get a tenth signature shoe with any brand? Such is the case for New York Yankees captain Derek Sanderson Jeter, who sees his name adorn a Jordan Brand sneaker for the tenth time in his highly decorated career.

Officially introduced this spring is the Jordan Jeter Cut, a cross-trainer designed by Octavio Lubrano that is equipped to meet the demands of athletes looking to train and stay in shape in between games. The lightweight sneaker features a premium fit, plush support, lateral stability and multi-surface traction ready for surfaces such as artificial turf, grass, dirt or a gym floor.

The mid-cut silhouette is packed with design and technology cues that aren’t only visually pleasing, but make the Jeter Cut a performance standout. Diamond-shaped perforations in the shoe’s quarter panels enhance ventilation, keeping your foot cool in warmer temperatures. Additional ventilation is provided by sandwich mesh on the tongue, which was also put in place to reduce lace pressure on the top of the foot.

Midfoot overlays wrap upward from the midsole and integrate with the eyestays for extra support and a lockdown. TPU windows on the medial and lateral midfoot enhance support and stability when cutting from side to side. Giving the Jeter Cut a premium fit and feel is a plush collar and inner lining.

For additional comfort, a dual-density Phylon midsole was put into place. Articulated lugs in the forefoot provide great multi-surface traction, while the outrigger and rubber outsole wrap-up provide lateral stability and help keep the foot over the footbed on the field.

The first colorway of the Jordan Jeter Cut, in White/Pitch Black-Metallic Silver, is available to purchase over at Eastbay now.

The Yankees survived to see another day Wednesday night by defeating the Texas Rangers 7-2 at Yankee Stadium. As one of the greatest players in post-season history, it seems every night fans and critics focus on Derek Jeter as the reason for the Yankees challenges in this year’s MLB Playoffs. However, when the Yankees try to avoid being eliminated on Friday night, there will be a bright side win or lose.

For nearly the entire season Jeter has played in the Jordan Jeter Throwback but Friday he’ll step onto the diamond in the upcoming Jordan Jeter Cut. While this year’s Jeter Throwback was all about defining moments, the Jordan Jeter Cut will actually be Jeter’s signature shoe for next season and also celebrate his tenth “anniversary” for his Jordan signature line. Here’s a preview of the shoes from Jordan Brand and be sure to check back with us for on field coverage in the next MLB Watch.
