The best high school players in the nation will be facing off on April 15 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. You can watch it on ESPN2 at 7 pm ET. Since its inception in 2002, the Jordan Brand Classic has played host to top-tier talent who have gone on to become premier players in the NBA. Players like Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and LeBron James — the all-time scoring leader with 34 points in 2003 — have all previously played in the annual showdown.
This year is especially unique, as Jordan brand is unveiling its new performance basketball shoe: the Jordan Ultra.Fly. The shoe is inspired by Michael Jordan’s “Black Cat” nickname, and features a durable Kurim mesh upper, which provides Flight appeal and a lightweight feel. The Zoom Air unit in the forefoot combats rough landings, and delivers a responsive cushioning for bounce. The solid rubber outsole maintains a firm grip so you won’t lose your footing, and it extends all the way to the upper toe box. The shoe reminds us of the Super.Fly 4 in terms of its breathable mesh and comfort. We can’t wait to see the best of the best give these shoes a test run on Friday.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
De’Aaron Fox: He can dribble, dish, dunk, and drain triples. Watch him hit 10 threes en route to a 50-point performance.
Josh Jackson: He’s a 6’6” junior who looks like a pro. The Detroit native plays above the rim, has great body control, and has a quick trigger off the dribble. Check out his awe-inspiring 2015 mixtape.
Jayson Tatum: There’s a good reason he’s heading to Duke next season: he’s one of the most well-balanced players in the nation. We hyped him for the McDonald’s All-American Game a couple weeks ago, so we’ll let his mixtape do the talking.
Harry Giles: He’s 16 but plays like he’s 26. Giles throws it down with ferocity and has a step-back that’s deadly. He’s a beast under the basket — whether rebounding or blocking shots — and has amazing court awareness.
Miles Bridges: This dude can flat out score, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t guard well. He’s got skills and the swagger to match. Watch him pad his stats in the Chick-Fil-A Classic championship game.
Catch the game on ESPN2 at 7 pm ET. We’ll be watching. Will you?
