JORDAN RETRO 13 ‘BRED – AUGUST 19 AT 10 AM ET

The release we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. During the 1997-98 playoffs, MJ broke out a pair of the AJ 13s with the iconic ‘Bred’ colorway for the first time. Now, that legendary shoe is back. One of the most sought-after colorways on the famous Retro 13 silhouette? It doesn’t get much better than that. Men’s $189.99, Grade School $139.99.

You may feel like you’ve seen a lot of the Air Jordan XIII recently. That’s probably because you have. In recent months, we’ve seen the Bin23 and “Flint” colorways hit retailers. Tonight, the highly popular “Altitude” Retro 13 makes a return, and two previously un-retroed original colorways are due out shortly afterward.
The Air Jordan XIII was originally released in 1997. Designed by the legendary Tinker Hatfield, the shoe was based on a Black Panther theme because of a nickname Jordan received by close friends. The famous pods used for the sole of the Jordan XIII are reflective of the paw pads of an actual panther. The XIII was also a special shoe because it was the first Air Jordan released by the Jordan Brand as its own separate entity. In 1998, Jordan passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the all-time scoring list and won his sixth (and last) NBA Championship.
With so many Jordan Retro 13s set to drop in the coming weeks, let’s take a look at photos of the classic sneaker taken by members of the Sole Collector forum. Included are photos of the original “Altitude” colorway that will release tonight as well as the White/Red pair that will be available on December 18th.

While the strength of the Air Jordan line was always the Chicago Bulls colorways, Nike would always come up with an “oddball” colorway that typically dropped sometime around NBA All-Star Weekend. Some of these unlikely releases include shoes like the “Obsidian” XII, “Columbia” XI, “Aqua” VIII and “Bordeaux” VII. Also part of that group is the “Flint” Air Jordan XIII that first hit stores on February 14, 1998. Though MJ didn’t break them out for the All-Star game that season, the shoe became an instant hit, and is arguably the most popular Jordan XIII colorway. After first being re-released more than 5 years ago, the “Flint” XIII will make its heavily anticipated return next Friday, and you’ll be able to pick up a pair here at Eastbay.
The “Flint” XIII has undergone some slight modifications over the years, but still maintains most of the characteristics that made the shoe a smash back in 1998. To celebrate the shoe’s 2010 return, we’ve gathered some “Flint” XIII photography from members of the Sole Collector forum. Included in the group are the releases from 1998, 2005 and 2010. Even a few baby sizes make an appearance! Check out the photos below and show some love to these talented individuals.
Remember, the “Flint” Air Jordan Retro 13 will be available here on Friday, November 26th. In the meantime, you can prepare for the release with some Air Jordan Retro 13 apparel.
