In the late ’80s and early ’90s, there wasn’t a freestyle wrestler more dominant than Oklahoma City’s John Smith. The Oklahoma State University alum is one of the most decorated wrestlers of all time, winning four World Championship Gold Medals between 1987 and 1991, as well as two Pan American Games Gold Medals and Olympic Gold Medals in 1988 and 1992. His 154 career victories put him at ninth all-time and his 90 consecutive wins between 1987 and 1988 are good for the second best mark ever.
Smith is also the signature athlete for an elite line of adidas wrestling shoes known as Mat Wizards. The latest update to the series, the Mat Wizard IV, is a boot designed for the elite of the elite. The boot features a full-grain leather build for added comfort and durability. A lace flap has been put in place to keep the laces from getting in the way of the athlete’s work. Taking on the task below is an adiWEAR outsole and traditional split sole design for flexibility.
