The Air Jordan IX was the first Air Jordan shoe that Michael Jordan didn’t wear on an NBA court.
After a 3-Peat with the Chicago Bulls, MJ retired from the game of basketball and decided he would play baseball. In 1993, the Air Jordan IX sneaker was released while Michael wore the cleated version on the baseball diamond.
The Jordan 9 is also seen on the Michael Jordan statue in front of the United Center in Chicago. Originally released in 1993, it was brought back out in 2002, again in 2008 as part of the IX/XIV Collezione, and again this weekend.
