DC Shoes Frenzy TP x Travis Pastrana

DC Shoes Frenzy TP x Travis Pastrana

words // Nick Engvall

Maryland native and X-Games legend Travis Pastrana will look to repeat his 2010 Gold Medal performance in Moto X Freestyle and Moto X Speed and Style. He’ll have a lot to live up to considering last year he landed the first ever double backflip in X-Games history. Pastrana’s long-time partnership with DC Shoes has been a big factor in his rally car passion, where he’s become somewhat of an internet superstar through viral videos, and he’s even venturing into NASCAR.

Just in time for the X-Games in Los Angeles that begin Thursday, DC Shoes has a special make up designed of the DC Shoes Frenzy. Featuring carbon fiber accents and Travis’ number 199 on the forefoot, the DC Shoes Frenzy TP is done up in a combination of Black and Yellow. Throughout the upper a unique laser print adds some flare, but a closer look reveals the pring is actually made up of Pastrana’s number, 199. DC’s air bag cushioning and unmistakable padded tongue and collar provide comfort and protection for those harsh landings. Be sure to check out Travis at the X-Games which begin Thursday and run through Sunday.

DC Shoes has perfect timing with the arrival of the latest Robbie Maddison edition of the DC Shoes Command. The Australian Moto X daredevil is headed to Los Angeles later this week with new goals and aspirations that will surely awe the crowds. Robbie will get his first shot at competing in the RallyCross and Rally Car Racing events at X-Games 17. According to ESPN, Robbie is planning on doubling up on last year’s Volt, which netted him a silver medal. The double Volt would mean he’ll rotate his body two 360 degree spins on the side of the bike while flying hundreds of feet in the air.

Robbie’s latest makeup from DC Shoes is equipped for action with ImpactFX midsole air cushioning and an extra padding in the collar and tongue. The classic DC style reinvented for more comfort and impact absorption features the easily recognizable DC Shoes logo across the heel area with crazy graphics filling the logo, while on the tongue tag resides Robbie’s signature. We can’t help but wonder if the graphics represent the high-flying history of Robbie Maddison.

DC Shoes enters into new territory with their latest design, the Boost. Moving from their traditional skate shoes into a low profile and lightweight running shoe design, DC Shoes, one of the most popular brands amongst action sports enthusiasts, seems to have a winning approach with this new design.

Featuring a lightweight Unilite midsole with responsive cushioning, the DC Shoes Boost is available now in four new colorways, including a unique Camo print version. Each of which features a lightweight and breathable mesh upper with synthetic overlays and increased padding on the tongue and heel areas. DC Shoes and Rob Dyrdek’s partnership is about as tried and true as any athlete and footwear company could possibly imagine. The pro skater turned actor and entrepreneur has had more signature models than you can count over the last decade, not to mention all of the projects with DC Shoes that have been seen on his TV shows, Rob & Big, and Fantasy Factory.

This latest Rob Dyrdek signature model from DC Shoes is not necessarily the typical skate shoe design you would expect for Rob. In fact, the DC Shoes Alias Lite is more along the lines of a casual running shoe thanks to a flexible outsole and breathable mesh upper. Of course, this may be better suited for kicking back at a summer barbecue, but the sticky rubber outsole is there for you when you are ready to jump on your board and do work.

DC Shoes Ken Block Spartan Hi WC – Soft Lime

DC Shoes Ken Block Spartan Hi WC – Soft Lime

words_Brandon Richard

Introduced as part of the first-ever DC TeamWorks Collection back in 2009 by brand founder Ken Block, the Spartan High WC is a high-cut performance shoe with crossover appeal.  The Spartan High is available now at Eastbay in an all-new colorway.

The Block Spartan High features a durable action leather upper with thick padding in the tongue and collar for additional support. Perforations in the toebox and a mesh tongue keep the shoe ventilated, while hidden elastic straps keep the tongue secure. Protective lace guards are put in place to extend the life of your laces. The sole, which appears to be vulcanized, is actually cupsole constructed with a rubber wrap. Below sits an abrasion-resistant rubber outsole with DC’s trademark pill-pattern traction.

Done in Block’s signature colorway, soft lime green leather takes care of the upper on this particular pair, with drip detailing on the side panels. Grey hits the lace eyelets, inner lining, tongue and heel. The midsole is finished off with a gum rubber underside. Other details include the Huck Gee Skull Logo and Block’s number 34 on the heel.
