Following the tragic events that took place at Newtown Connecticut’s Sandy Hook Elementary School last Friday, several teams honored the 26 victims and survivors with special helmet and uniform decals. Individually, a few players decided to send personal messages with their footwear, including Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson in last night’s Monday Night Football matchup with the New York Jets.

In black sharpie, Johnson wrote the name of each victim on his Player Exclusive Nike Lunar Superbad Pro cleats. The three-time Pro Bowler then carried the ball 21 times for 122 yards and a touchdown to life the Titans to a 14-10 victory.

Our thoughts are with all affected by this tragic event.

Notable results from Week 15 included the Green Bay Packers capturing the NFC North with a 21-13 win in Chicago; the Houston Texans easing by the division rival Indianapolis Colts to gain separation for the AFC’s top spot; Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos picking up the franchises first ever win in Baltimore; Kirk Cousins filling in for RG3 to push the Redskins into the NFC East lead; Adrian Peterson racking up another 212 yards in Minnesota’s dominant 36-22 win over the St. Louis Rams; the Atlanta Falcons blanking the New York Giants 34-0 at home; Seattle scoring 50 or more for the second straight game in Buffalo; the Dallas Cowboys holding off the Steelers in overtime to keep their playoff hopes alive; and the San Francisco 49ers impressively taking out the New England Patriots in Foxborough.

Back in July star RB Chris Johnson was featured on the cover of Eastbay. He and the Titans will take the field on Sunday to face the Raiders. CJ has been one of the most famous players in the league the last couple of years due to his Fantasy Football value. Read below for more about the third-year running back.

Entering his third season, the 5-foot 11-inch, 191-pound back has been a beast in the NFL. In his senior season at East Carolina in 2007, Johnson had 236 carries for 1,423 yards and 17 touchdowns. He showed his versatility by catching 37 balls for 528 yards and six scores out of the backfield. The Titans selected him number 24 overall in the 2008 NFL Draft. He had a big rookie campaign by playing in 15 games, rushing 251 times for 1,228 yards and nine TDs. He helped the Titans start 10-0 and finish the regular season with a 13-3 record before losing 13-10 to the Ravens in the Playoffs.

Last year he ran 358 times for a crazy 2,006 and 14 TDs. He had a bunch of huge games, but just to mention a couple, he ran 16 times for 197 yards and two TDs Week 2 against the Texans, went for 228 yards on 24 carries and two scores against the Jags in a Week 8 30-13 win and had 154 yards and a score against the Cards Week 13. CJ rushed for over 100 yards in the last 11 games of the season, which will hopefully carry over into this season. He and his squad have high expectations this year considering they won eight of their last 10 games to end the 2009 season, narrowly missing the playoffs. Keep an eye out for CJ this year as I’m sure he’ll keep racking up fantasy points.
