Summer Hoops Styles

The NBA season may be over now, but basketball never really stops. True hoopers live and breathe basketball, no matter what time of year it is. The grind continues on the court year round and the basketball lifestyle keeps rolling off the court, too.

Whether you are on or off the court, stay cool with the hottest looks of the summer.

On-Court Style Kyrie 2

On-Court Look of the Season – Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving has long been considered a top point guard in the NBA, but he’s flown somewhat under the radar due to playing alongside LeBron James, a megastar who can grab headlines based on who he follows or unfollows on Instagram. With a teammate who so often demands the spotlight, Irving was often left in the shadow, considered a star player but not quite a superstar…yet. After being a huge part of an NBA Championship team, Irving has seemingly made the jump to superstar status.

The former No. 1 pick and 3-time NBA All-Star capped off his rise by averaging 27 points per game in the NBA finals. He hit a step-back 3-pointer over Stephen Curry with 53 seconds to go in Game 7, giving his team the lead for good and providing a signature moment for the budding superstar.

Nike Kyrie 2

The days of Irving being underappreciated seem to be fading fast. His accomplishments on the court are adding up, and he is on the rise off the court, too. Irving is one of Nike’s hottest new signature athletes, with his Kyrie 2 shoes grabbing the attention of sneaker heads all season. His kicks also grabbed the attention of his fellow NBA colleagues, with many athletes sporting his signature shoes throughout the season.

Eastbay has several Kyrie 2 colorways available, including the popular Kyrie 2 ‘Kyrache’ colorway that was inspired by the original 1992 Nike Air Flight Huarache. Nike has also released clothing to match Kyrie Irving’s new shoes, including everything from hats to shirts to shorts and even a Kyrie backpack.

Irving is climbing the ladder and well on his way to superstar status on the court. He’s also making a push to join the ranks of Nike heavyweights like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Kobe Bryant, allowing fans to rock the same looks as their favorite stars.

Off-Court Look of the Season – Bloodline Colors and Jordan Reveal

While the Kyrie Irving brand is just beginning to gain steam for Nike, the Jordan brand has been an established powerhouse for decades. Air Jordan has released shoes and clothing in nearly every imaginable color, but the bloodline colors continue to be a staple of the brand.

Michael Jordan repped the black and red while building his legendary career in Chicago, and Air Jordan continues to pay homage to the brand’s beginnings by emphasizing these colors in clothes and sneakers.

Jordan Bloodline

Regardless of your team’s colors on the court, black and red will always be a classic look off the court. To enhance your look, add a pair of Jordan Reveals, a modern comfort shoe that utilizes a minimalist design and is a perfect accent to your red and black apparel.

The Jordan Reveal is meant to elevate your off-court style with lasting comfort and subtle details that build on the Jordan legacy. The minimalist style makes it easy to match these kicks with your favorite shirts and shorts, and completes the sleek, smooth, and comfortable look.

While most NBA players spent All-Star Weekend attending media events and celebrity-hosted parties, Milwaukee Bucks point guard Brandon Jennings traveled back to his hometown of Gardena, California along with Under Armour to refurbish his childhood basketball court at Rowley Park. The updated court features a green Sport Court rubber surface with Under Armour and Brandon Jennings “BJ3” logos applied throughout. Premium NBA regulation hoops were also installed for play. For his efforts in the community, which also included a refurbishing project at his first school in Compton, Jennings was the recipient of the NBA’s Community Assist Award for February.

When brainstorming colorway ideas for his new Micro G Bloodline signature shoe with Under Armour, Brandon wanted an all-green colorway that represented the brand new Rowley Park. With that in mind, brand designer John Humphrey crafted this pair in Rowley Park Green, complete with street map details on a reflective cross-strap with a Rowley Park call-out front and center. Additional reflective detailing was added to the collar, while a white rubber outsole provides a bit of contrast below.

In this exclusive Eastbay video, we had the opportunity to sit down with Humphrey and UA Director of Basketball Footwear Ryan Drew for a little more insight on the Rowley Park Green Micro G Bloodline. You can pick up a pair of these new Under Armour basketball shoes over at Eastbay today.

Under Armour’s Micro G Bloodline isn’t just a basketball shoe – it’s the story of the journey taken by Milwaukee Bucks point guard Brandon Jennings from the streets of Compton, California to the NBA. Every new colorway that is introduced represents an element of his life, both personally and professionally. Three new Bloodline styles have arrived at Eastbay today, each giving you a distinct look into the life of Jennings.

First up is a black-based shoe that has been given the nickname of “Compton Black.” The all-black colorway represents Brandon’s West Coast roots and features a custom tonal graphic pattern throughout the upper and the strap. Next up, a pair in green and white that has been dubbed the “Rowley Park Green.”  This name refers to the surface of Jennings’ childhood basketball court in Gardena, California, which he and Under Armour refurbished over the 2011 NBA All-Star break. Last is the “Roma Blues,” a colorway inspired by the Lottomatica Roma basketball club in Italy, where Brandon became the first American player to skip college and play professionally in Europe. Each of these new colorways can be yours today.

The Under Armour Micro G Bloodline isn’t just a sneaker; it’s the story of a young man who was raised in Gardena, California, honed his craft in Compton, finished out his high school years at the world famous Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, made history playing pro ball in Italy before turning to the NBA and is now one of the league’s biggest stars as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks. Brandon never forgets where he come from, and with these Under Armour basketball shoes, you won’t either.

To celebrate today’s official launch of Jennings’ second signature shoe, Under Armour has released this Micro G Bloodline commercial, highlighting Brandon’s unique career journey. Check out the new clip below. You can pick up the Bloodline today at Eastbay.

The only way to create real change is to take an aggressive approach and commit to it. That’s been the case with Under Armour’s involvement in basketball footwear, which started last fall with the introduction of their first basketball shoe lineup, led by Brandon Jennings’ signature Micro G Black Ice. UA has added some new faces this offseason and figures to be a major player for free agents moving forward, but Jennings will forever be the pioneer of the brand’s basketball range. Following what was started with the Black Ice last season, Under Armour and Brandon Jennings are preparing to launch his second signature shoe, the Bloodline.

Inspired by Brandon’s upbringing and Gardena, California roots to where he is today, these Under Armour basketball shoes feature a full-grain leather and mesh build with a midfoot support strap for lockdown support. Reflective detailing increases visibility, while UA’s trademark Micro G cushioning provides a light and responsive ride. Finishing off the look below is a one-piece translucent rubber outsole with multi-directional pattern for exceptional lateral and linear movement.

The Bloodline will launch in Black/Red on November 4th, but you can pre-order your pair today at Eastbay.
