Eastbay has teamed up with Ballislife on marquee events like the Ballislife All-American Game, which is one of the fastest growing high school All-American games in the country, having featured big names like Tyler Ulis, Zach LaVine, Stanley Johnson, Isaiah Briscoe, Thon Maker, Brandon Ingram, Skal Labissiere, and more!
Each month, we’ll feature some of the top videos from the Ballislife team. This month includes Zion Williamson’s monster mixtape, LiAngelo Ball’s 52-point game at the state tournament, the Chino Hills vs. Bishop Montgomery showdown, and the No. 1 player in the country, Michael Porter Jr., throwing down in the Washington State Championship game.
Zion Williamson Is The Best Mixtape Player Of Our Generation
The Ballislife mixtape of the internet sensation is here. The 6’8” 16-year-old has already gone viral several times for his aerial assaults on the rim. Plus, the man is averaging almost 37 points and 13 rebounds per game. Peep the video to see why he’s already one of the biggest names in the game.
Gelo Ball Drops 52 points In State Game
The only high school basketball players that are more famous than Zion Williamson is the Ball Brothers. Gelo and Melo Ball have been making headlines all year, alongside their brother, Lonzo Ball, who stars at UCLA. In Chino Hills’ first state tournament game, Gelo dropped 52 points while his little brother LaMelo registered a triple double. Check out the highlights.
Chino Hills vs. Bishop Montgomery SHOWDOWN
Two of the best programs in the nation faced off against each other in California’s State Regional Semifinals. With plenty of star power on the court and a packed house, this game was one for the ages. Check out the video and see who came out on top in this battle of two SoCal powerhouses.
Michael Porter Jr. THROWS DOWN In State Championship Game
Last, but certainly not least, the No. 1 player in the 2017 class went off for 27 points in the state championship game and threw down a nasty off-the-backboard dunk. The third meeting this season between two of Washington’s best programs led to a historic game you have to see.
If you couldn’t make it to Las Vegas this weekend for the Tarkanian Classic, you missed out. Some of the best high school basketball players in the country put on a show. These guys are the superstars of tomorrow, so sit back and get your popcorn ready. Here are the top 5 plays from the Tarkanian Classic, courtesy of our good friends at Ballislife.
Marvin Bagley, III is the No. 1 player in the class of 2018. Troy Brown Jr. is the No. 17 player in the class of 2017. On this play, Brown got the best of Bagley as he split a pair of defenders before throwing down on Bagley.
LaMelo Ball, younger brother of UCLA star Lonzo Ball, committed to UCLA when he was only 13 years old. He will certainly be one of the top players in the 2019 class, and you can see why on this play, where Ball blocks a shot, heads down the court and drops off a behind-the-back assist to his teammate who draws the and-1.
Elijah Hardy is one of the most complete point guards in the class of 2018. Raymond Hawkins is a 2019 big that knows how to run the court. That’s a deadly combination, as you can see on this fast break alley-oop.
Elijah Hardy and Raymond Hawkins link up again, but this time with a little flair added for good measure. Hardy throws it off the back board and Hawkins goes up and gets it.
With the game on the line, freshman Noah Taitz crossed up his defender and converted the game-winning layup as time expired. The clutch play secured a win in the third place game for hometown Bishop Gorman.
The championship game of the Platinum Division of the Tarkanian Classic, held in Las Vegas, came down to two undefeated California powerhouses. Chino Hills, boasting the star power of two UCLA commits extended their winning streak to 46 and took home the Platinum Division title with an 84-73 win against Mater Dei.
LiAngelo Ball scored 25 points while his younger brother LaMelo Ball added 21 points in the win. If those names sound familiar, it’s because they are the younger brother of current UCLA guard and projected NBA lottery pick Lonzo Ball. LiAngelo Ball and Eli Scott, also of Chino Hills, were named tournament co-MVPs. LiAngelo Ball put on a scoring clinic the entire tournament, while Eli Scott anchored the team’s defense and put up big numbers in the rebounding department. Justice Sueing led the way for Mater Dei, scoring 27 points in a losing effort.
The third place game of the Tarkanian Classic’s Platinum Division featured a showdown between the host team Bishop Gorman and Roosevelt. The back-and-forth game came down to the wire. Freshman Noah Taitz came up clutch for the hometown team, crossing up his defender before hitting the game-winning layup just before time expired to give Bishop Gorman a 66-64 win.
Basketball season is right around the corner. Months of workouts, pickup games, and shoot arounds are finally about to pay off when you step onto the court for the 2016-17 season. You’ve put in the work to be successful this year, and now it’s time to make it happen.
The best players need the best gear. Make sure this season is your best season with gear that allows you to look, feel, and play your best.
There are plenty of great sneaker options, but you can’t go wrong with a shoe from one of the best players to ever play the game. Kobe Bryant may have moved on from playing the game, but his shoes are still geared toward performance basketball. The Nike Flyknit is stronger, lighter, and more flexible than ever before, providing maximum support and comfort during your quickest moves. The classic low-top look is also equipped with Lunarlon foam to deliver soft and responsive shock absorption, allowing your athleticism to really shine. Choose from six Eastbay-exclusive Kobe 11 colorways!
Eastbay Customer Review: “This shoe is by far one of the best I have ever had. It is extremely durable, comfortable, and overall just well built. If you are in a position where you are not quite sure, trust me when I say you will love this shoe. It looks very good in most outfits. Highly recommend.”
You’re busier than ever during the season. You’ll be running between school, practices, games, and the weight room constantly. The Nike Elite Backpack is perfect for helping you get around with all the gear you need to be successful on the court and in the classroom. Preparation leads to success on the court and off the court. Make sure you’re packed up and ready to go with everything you need day in and day out. The Nike Quad Zip System allows for easy access from all angles, so you can get what you need when you need it, no matter what.
Eastbay Customer Review: “The style and versatility of the backpack have met our needs! Love how the front of the backpack opens up, making it easier for storage and removal of items, like shoes.”
Comfort is key, and that’s where this Hoodie comes in. The Nike Therma fabric manages your body’s natural heat to keep you warm, while leaving you with unrestricted movement. Dri-FIT technology keeps you dry and comfortable. The hoodie was designed with basketball in mind, utilizing articulated sleeve hems that won’t get in the way of ball-handling. Focused on comfort and performance, this hoodie also features signature Nike style.
Elite athletes are always versatile. The Nike Elite Versatility Sock emphasizes comfort so that your versatility can shine. The classic look is one of the most popular on-court sock looks in the game, and the functionality holds up, too. Comfort and style make this sock a must-have – and with over 25 colors available, you’ll have plenty of options.
Eastbay Customer Review: “Great socks. They are very comfortable and stylish.”
Similar to the Elite socks, the Elite Stripe Shorts come in the classic style that athletes love. When you hit the hardwood, you need shorts that will hold up to your game. The Nike Elite Stripe Shorts feature an internal drawcord for a secure, customizable fit and pockets for convenient storage. Many hoopers rolled up their shorts or wore shorter shorts on the summer basketball circuit to allow for greater mobility. These shorts come with a 9” inseam, which is perfect for unrestricted movement. Dominate the court – and look good while doing it.
Eastbay Customer Review: “These fit much better than the older elite shorts. They are 9” inseam, which might be too short for some, but I like the length. The older 12” inseam was just way too baggy overall.”
If you like to wear tights on the court, then look no further. The Nike Hypercool tights are breathable and provide anatomical support with a compression fit. The 3/4 tights come in a black, grey, white, and blue color, allowing you to rock any style while remaining cool and comfortable during the game.
The classic Nike Swoosh and the word “FLY” give this tee plenty of Nike signature style. With six different colors, you’ll have no problem finding the right look for you. Nike has set the standard for athletic apparel for a long time, and this tee continues that tradition. The Droptail hem on the back makes it a great fit for on-court play, and it also matches a popular off-court trend.
You can’t play basketball without the ball. This basketball is the preferred ball of over 250 major college programs and is NFHS approved for high school play. Made for indoor use only, this is a standard-sized men’s basketball that’ll get you ready for the season and also be perfect for in-season use.
Eastbay Customer Review: “Best ball I’ve ever bought. It has really good grip and feels like a really good quality basketball.”
