You won’t be dunking these bad boys in a cold glass of milk anytime soon, but the black and white scheme used on this Air Jordan 5 Retro has earned it the nickname of ‘Oreo’ by sneakerheads.

The classic model features a bold, black suede upper with contrasting white hits on the Jumpman branding, inner lining and midsole. A speckle print adorns the ‘teeth’ design, while a blue-tinted translucent outsole helps complete the look.

These retro Jordan shoes appropriately release here next Friday, November 29 at 8:00 a.m. EST / 7:00 a.m. CST. Follow @Eastbay on Twitter and @OfficialEastbay on Instagram for all release information and updates.

Eastbay Memory Lane // Air Jordan 5 Retro ‘Laney’ April 2000

Tomorrow, the ‘Laney’ Air Jordan 5 Retro will return for the first time since its 2000 release. In addition to being a tribute to Michael Jordan’s North Carolina high school, the ‘Laney’ 5 is significant because it was the first ever ‘Retro+’ colorway, meaning a style that was not part of the original lineup. Now, there are more new colorways than originals and you can point to the Bucs-inspired 5 Retro as the starting point for that kind of success.

For Eastbay Memory Lane, we flash back to April 2000, when the yet-to-be-released ‘Laney’ 5 graced the pages of our catalog. The classic retro is joined by the Air Jordan XV, arguably the most polarizing model in the entire Jordan series. You’ll also see the Trunner Mid, Jumpman select and Eddie Jones’ Swift 6.

What do you remember about 2000, when the Jordan Brand moved past MJ’s playing career and started focusing more on the retro market? Did you own a pair of the original ‘Laney’ Jordan shoes?

After checking out the toddler size earlier this week, here’s a look at this weekend’s ‘Laney’ Air Jordan 5 Retro release in men’s sizing.

Inspired by Michael Jordan’s time at Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina, the shoe sports a white tumbled leather base, accented by the Bucs’ school colors of blue and gold on the tongue, ’23’ embroidery and midsole. Black works the inner lining, heel Jumpman embroidery and shares the outsole with icy translucent rubber.

These Jordan shoes will release here this Saturday, November 2 at 8:00 a.m. EST. Follow @Eastbay on Twitter and @OfficialEastbay on Instagram for all updates and information.

This Saturday marks the highly anticipated return of the ‘Laney’ Air Jordan 5, a blue and gold accented colorway that pays homage to Michael Jordan’s time at Emsley A. Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina. At Laney, MJ averaged about 20 points per game in his final two season. In his senior year, Jordan was selected to the McDonald’s All-American Team after averaging a triple-double: 29.2 points, 11.6 rebounds and 10.1 assists.

With the ‘Laney’ 5 being a tribute to a younger Michael Jordan, it’s fitting that we take a look at the popular retro in a size made for his younger fanbase. The toddler retro features a white tumbled leather upper, plastic mesh panels, black on the inner lining and heel Jumpman logo and a kid-friendly grey rubber outsole.

You’ll be able to pick up these Jordan shoes in sizes ranging from men’s to infant here this Saturday, November 2 at 8:00 a.m. EST. Receive release updates and information by following @Eastbay on Twitter and @OfficialEastbay on Instagram.

Ushering in a new decade in 1990, Nike introduced the fifth model in Michael Jordan’s iconic signature sneaker series — the Air Jordan V. The shoe’s design was inspired by the Supermarine Spitfire Mk VIII, a World War II era British fighter jet. Crafted by the legendary Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan V was the first basketball shoe to feature 3M reflective material, a clear sole and was the first Air Jordan to come equipped with lacelocks.

The Air Jordan V was also largely identifiable by its graphics. ‘AIR JORDAN’ was featured on the backside of the tongue, while ’23’ was embroidered on the heel. Those same two graphics are printed on the Jordan Brand’s new Retro 5 23 Archive T-Shirts.

Available in White, Black and Cement, these Jordan T-Shirts come complete with screen printed graphics, including a classic elephant print backdrop. Complement your recent Jordan pickup by grabbing one of these tees here today.
