The Air Jordan 2 has the distinction of being the model in the series that was produced in the least amount of original colorways. Seemingly on a mission to make up for that, the Jordan Brand is releasing Michael Jordan’s second signature shoe in a variety of new styles this year.
This weekend, the classic sneaker arrives in an all-new colorway dubbed ‘Nightshade.’ Borrowing elements from the 1986 original, this shoe adds an eye-catching greenish-blue hue to the upper, with embossed leather panels wrapping the toe and collar. The laces, heel and midsole feature a darker ice black and pure platinum. Volt adds pop to the logos, side panel trim, laces and midsole speckle.
Add ‘Nightshade’ to your summer rotation when these Jordan shoes release at Eastbay for $150 this Saturday, May 17 at 8:00 a.m. EST / 7:00 a.m. CST. Follow @Eastbay on Twitter and @OfficialEastbay on Instagram for all release information and updates.

Michael Jordan missed nearly the entire 1985-1986 NBA season, suffering a broken foot early in the year. However, he returned in 1986-1987 with what was statistically the best scoring year of his career. Averaging an amazing 37.1 points per game, Michael became the first player to post 3,000 points in a season since Wilt Chamberlain. His footwear weapon of choice for that season? The Bruce Kilgore designed Air Jordan II.
The Jordan II was famously constructed in Italy with premium Italian leather. Both low and high cuts were released in late 1986 and 1987. Interestingly, none of the pairs featured a black base, marking the only time that happened in any of the original runs of the Air Jordan line. Of course, that changed with retro colorways in the 2000s, including a pair that is set to drop here at Eastbay next weekend.
To celebrate the upcoming Air Jordan Retro 2 release, Sole Shots has decided to showcase some of the best Air Jordan 2 photography from the Sole Collector forum and beyond. While the most popular shoe to shoot was undoubtedly the original White/Varsity Red-Black colorway, we also get a look at the “Eminem,” “Doernbecher Charity,” and “Bin23 Premio” pairs as well.
Remember, the Black/White Air Jordan Retro 2 will be available here at Eastbay next Saturday, October 23.

The iconic Air Jordan 2 has been released in a new creative colorway that undoubtedly comes from Michael Jordan’s college years playing for the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Jordan 2 which originally released in 1986, has never been released in this colorway. Aside from the mostly University Blue uppers, black accents add contrasting details to balance out the colorway nicely.
If you’re looking for some matching apparel to go along with your latest pickup, check out some of the University Blue Jordan clothes below as well.

One of the most memorable Air Jordan shoes ever is the Air Jordan 2. Though it might not be the most popular, or the most innovative, the Air Jordan 2 was on the feet of Michael Jordan as he won his first NBA Slam Dunk Contest at the 1987 competition. Later this week, the Air Jordan 2 will return in the same color combination that helped Michael win that dunk contest but now you can get your hands on some creative tee shirts from Jordan that also pay tribute to the Air Jordan 2. The image of the Air Jordan 2 can be seen within the famous “wings logo” from the earliest of Air Jordan models. Of course you can imagine that the three colors available would be the red, white and black that used to adorn Michael’s Chicago Bulls attire.
