A couple months back we gave you a sneak peek at the adidas Originals Top X, which takes a classic design from adidas Originals and gives it makeover. While the adidas Originals Top Ten is one of the most popular retro models from adidas, the former basketball shoe is transformed into a classy casual design that will become available later this month.

The adidas Originals Top X still carries just enough of the original version to be deserving of the name, but its new lines feature a slimmer fit and smooth finish thanks to a patent finish. The iconic Three Stripes still remain intact across the side panels, along with other often overlooked details like the ‘Top Ten’ labeling on the lace eyelets. Arriving first will be these two colorways, one in all white and one in all black, each with patent details and the smooth lines of the cupsole design, featuring Trefoil logos ¬†throughout the outsole. A simple X logo on the tongue finishes off the the design.

About a month ago we gave you a sneak peek at the adidas Originals Top X, and today’s Eastbay Photo of the Week gives us a glimpse at two more additional colorways. The Original adidas Top Ten has returned as a retro model in various forms of the years, including the recently released Top Ten Hi.

The updated Top X version you see here will be arriving this summer at Eastbay. It takes design cues from the classic adidas Originals design and combines them with a more sleek and current style. Each of the colorways features premium materials and shiny patent finish. The X labeling on the tongue replaces the original adidas Trefoil logo, but still plays on the namesake of the Top Ten, with the “X” equalling ten in Roman Numerals.

Check out a preview of the white and black versions below, and look for these to arrive in the coming weeks.

The adidas Top Ten originated on the basketball courts in the late 1970s. As one of the most notable shoes from adidas, the Top Ten seems to have everlasting life. Since the time it originally released, it has not only become a staple amongst the adidas Originals Retro lineup, but has seen its share of reinventions as well. While the Top Ten 2000, which has been a regular Retro model for the last decade, falls into the performance basketball side of the Top Ten legacy, this summer a new lifestyle model will release from the Top Ten family tree.

The adidas Originals Top X will be available this summer in a number of colorways. This new version features a casual cupsole design and updated smooth lines without losing the timeless feel of the original Top Ten. One of the most noticeable features of the new version is the “X” tongue labeling that resides in place of the original Top Ten badging.
