Adidas has made it perfectly clear in the past that “Fast Don’t Lie,” but what about light? This year marked the introduction of the lightest basketball shoe ever created, the adidas adiZero Crazy Light. Tipping the scales at just 9.8 ounces, the revolutionary model set a new standard for lightweight basketball performance through innovative engineering. A welded SprintWeb and SprintFrame upper makes for a lightweight, but stable experience, while an EVA cushioned midsole and rubber outsole with a variable height engineered traction pattern supports the ride below. Before we turn the calendars on 2011, two new colorways of the Crazy Light can be yours today.
First up is a pair that could conceivably be worn by reigning MVP and adidas Basketball athlete Derrick Rose. The shoe sports a white synthetic upper with black accenting the laces, inner lining and external heel counter. Red complements the look on the pinline, 3-Stripe branding and midsole, while a grey outsole caps off the look below.
Additionally, there’s an eye-catching TRON-like colorway that provides blue and cyan color pops on a black based shoe. Both new adidas Basketball shoes are available at Eastbay today.

As you’d expect, no NBA player is having more fun this summer than Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard, who is currently on tour with adidas Basketball over in China. Before making an initial stop in Beijing, Dwight took part in the adidas Crazy Light Challenge event at Roppongi Hills in Tokyo, Japan this past Wednesday.
Decked out in a clown wig, adidas TechFit gear and “Sharp Blue” adidas adiZero Crazy Light shoes, Dwight ran through several drills with guests in attendance, helping them fine tune their games. Things became really interesting when Dwight also hosted a mini dunk competition, which somehow resulted in him dunking on a 12-foot giraffe. Not a real giraffe of course, but that didn’t make it any less unexpected.
Interested in picking up a pair of the shoes Dwight wore to dunk on the giraffe? The adidas adiZero Crazy Light is available in “Sharp Blue” and several other colorways over at Eastbay today.

Last week adidas unveiled the adiZero Crazy Light, the lightest basketball shoe ever made at just 9.8 ounces. With the NBA Playoffs getting underway on Saturday, some well timed planning had the launch of the Crazy Light perfectly timed to give players like Derrick Rose, Jrue Holiday and others, an unbelievably lightweight shoe to begin their respective playoff runs.
A few players such as Derek Fisher, Darren Collison, and Mike Conley were spotted in player exclusive colorways over the weekend. While others, like Rose, Hedo Turkoglu, and Wilson Chandler opted for a general release colorway that was unveiled in our detailed look at the Crazy Light.
With that said, there are four colorways of the new adidas adiZero Crazy Light now available for pre-order, but which one will you choose?
