Week 3 was an interesting one in the Power Rankings, as the previous top three team (the Saints, Packers and Texans) all lost. Saints kicker Garrett Hartley missed a 29-yard field goal in overtime against the Falcons that would have kept New Orleans at #1. Instead, they drop to #2 and the Steelers, who crushed the Bucs, take the #1 spot this week. The #2-ranked Packers lost to the Bears on Monday Night, dropping them to #5 this week. The #3 ranked Texans fall 7 spots after a bad loss to the Cowboys. The Colts are up a spot to #3 after beating the Broncos and the Falcons jump 5 spots to take the #4 slot.

The Ravens, Jets and Patriots all stay put at 6, 7, and 8 after solid wins. The Bears are up 5 spots after their win over the Pack and the Titans also jump up 5 after an impressive win over Eli Manning and the Giants.

The surprise of the league has to be the 3-0 Kansas City Chiefs, who beat the defending AFC West champion Chargers and blew out the NFC West-favorite 49ers. Last year the Chiefs were 4-12.

The Seahawks are up 6 spots this week after a 27-20 win over the Chargers, thanks to Leon Washington’s two kickoff return touchdowns of 101 and 99 yards, respectively.

The biggest slide in the rankings this week is the Redskins. They fall 9 spots after a loss to the Rams, who I had ranked #30 last week.
