Yesterday, we showed you a video of Derrick Rose reviewing his brand new signature shoe, the adidas adiZero Rose 2. Now, get the inside scoop on the sneaker everybody is talking about from the designer himself.
In Part 1 of our exclusive 1-on-1 interview with adidas Basketball Category Designer Robbie Fuller, he discusses how Rose’s competitive spirit influenced the design of the shoe and his desire for a multi-purpose sneaker that could be worn on and off the court. Additionally, Fuller speaks on drawing inspiration from the Kazuhiri of the adidas Y-3 range and how a volcanic eruption in Iceland spawned the “All Flights Cancelled” theme.
Check out Part 1 below and stay tuned for Part 2. The adidas adiZero Rose 2 is available now at Eastbay.
Real interesting insight into the Rose 2s!
do not look good to me at all. but good for everyone involved. this goes for every company I dont get the reasoning behind having non-athletic people designing shoes for the premier athletes in the world. just doesnt make sense. designers today have no sports foundation to build from. every design is a shot in the dark
^ Not sure what made you think otherwise…but Robbie can actually HOOP. Real nice PG game.
There’s quite a few designers out there that also can really play the game. Justin Taylor at Jordan is probably the best current signature example at Nike Inc…he’s 6’6″, played college ball and weartests during the whole process as he’s the same size as Melo.
Not everyone can be Tinker and easily relate to any athlete / be all-world at multiple sports / have an architecture background / look for innovation in every product / etc / etc…..but I think you’re being unfairly harsh on a few guys!
