In the most recent showcase of offseason all-star basketball action, stars like LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul traveled to Philadelphia as part of Team Melo to play Team Philly in the “Battle for I-95” at the Palestra. Team Philly, comprised of homegrown talent like Tyreke Evans, Kyle Lowry, Lou Williams and Hakim Warrick, took on the LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul-led Team Melo. Not expected to have much of a chance in the game, it was Team Philly that came away with the surprising 131-122 victory. Lowry led the way for Team Philly, pouring in 34 points on the night. Hakim Warrick had a big 19-point, 12-rebound double double.
A frustrated LeBron led Team Melo with 43 points and 23 rebounds, missing 16 field goal attempts on the night, including shooting just 1-for-8 from three point range. Anthony finished with 31 points and 17 rebounds, while CP3 contributed 6 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds. All three stars played the entire 48 minutes.
