We all have those moments when watching or participating in sports that are unforgettable. When it comes to basketball, oftentimes it comes in the form of an unbelievable dunk that not only acts as the finishing touch on a career game, but also leaves the defender captured as the lifelong victim of being posterized.
Last night, as the Memphis Grizzlies took on the Bobcats in Charlotte, Rudy Gay seemed to be on his way to one of those instances: a moment that was to be captured in time. However, the result was not what Rudy was hoping for, nor was it what the image would lead you to believe. Rudy took to the sky for what seemed would be an incredible dunk, but the Bobcats’ Tyrus Thomas wasn’t having it. Thomas got a piece of the shot, one of his four blocks on the night, which added to Memphis’ frustrating night.
In other action, Carlos Boozer and Derrick Rose led the Bulls to yet another win at home, improving their record at the United Center this season to one of the best in the league at 17-3. The Celtics, another team with a near-perfect record at home, were shocked by the Houston Rockets 108-102 in Boston.
