One of Saucony Originals’ most notable Retro styles will return in a couple of fresh colorways for the coming spring. The Shadow 5000 originates in the the late ’80s and was a top-notch performance shoe in its day, but has carved out a niche following amongst sneakerheads. Like its younger sibling, the Shadow 6000, which released in simple, reserved combos of black and white last year, the Shadow 5000 is taking a laid-back approach in its 2011 return.
The Saucony Shadow 5000 will be available March and features a combination of suede and mesh that should have Retro running collectors chomping at the bit. With a combination of dark grey suede and mesh, Saucony Originals adds light grey to the synthetic overlays and a touch of orange to the outsole, stitching and labeling to give the Shadow 5000 some spice. Handling the comfort duties for the Shadow 6000 is Saucony’s Ionic Cushioning System.
