On Super Bowl Sunday, Nike Football is set to officially launch their next wave of on-field footwear. Included in the launch are the Zoom Vapor Carbon Fly, Alpha Speed TD 3/4 and the brand new Air Zoom Alpha Talon. Each shoe features unique “Alpha” design cues in metallic platinum and dark grey colorways, accented by vibrant hits of volt, which is symbolic of speed on Nike’s footwear and apparel.
The centerpiece of Nike’s new football releases is the Air Zoom Alpha Talon, which Nike touts as its most advanced premium cleat ever. They worked closely with some of the world’s top athletes to integrate groundbreaking technology into the shoe that would meet the demands of every position on the field. Within the forefoot are interior cleats that extend when more traction is necessary and retract when it’s not. The Air Zoom Alpha Talon cleat incorporates Flywire technology into the upper for lockdown support, low-profile cushioning and Pro Deflex padding around the ankle for breathable protection.
Not to be confused with the Nike Speed TD 3/4, the Alpha Speed TD builds on concepts laid forth by its predecessor, but enhances performance by incorporating new technology and lightweight materials. The shoe features a similar silhouette as the Alpha Talon, but makes use of a different lacing system and traction element.
Also being released is the Zoom Vapor Carbon Fly TD, which we’ve seen on the feet of several speedy Nike athletes throughout the season and playoffs. The Zoom Vapor Carbon Fly is an ultra-lightweight cleat that weighs less than 10 ounces. Its primary technologies consist of Flywire lockdown and a Zoom Air bag for responsive cushioning. The cleat also features a dynamic integrated tongue, Pebax support frame and carbon fiber inserts to aid propulsion.
Each model will officially launch tomorrow night, Super Bowl Sunday, at 7:00 p.m. EST at Eastbay. Also releasing will be matching receiver gloves, apparel and an “Alpha” colorway of the Zoom Huarache Trainer. Quantities will be limited.
