In 1997 the Nike Zoom Spiridon was one of the first running shoes to receive Zoom Air technology. Before this point, most technically advanced running shoes from Nike, like the Air Max 95 and Air Max 97, were loaded with Max Air cushioning. Zoom Air was relatively new technology, and was just making its entry into the mainstream stardom it receives today.
Fast forward 13 years and the spirit of the Spiridon is now being recreated for basketball use. This time the style is a higher cut model with a shorter name, the Nike Zoom Don.Although the ankle height may have changed, the Zoom Don still pays tribute to its origins with the a combination of mesh and synthetic materials on the uppers and a metallic Swoosh, as well as in its namesake on the heel. Since this new version is for basketball, the midsole area is a bit more substantial than the running shoe that inspired this design.
Available now: Nike Zoom Don
Clean and simple with an mash of ’90s / ’00s style.
I am SUPER intrigued to try these. The Spiradon was my favorite running shoe. These should have come out 13 years ago!!
does anyone know if its going to be full length or just forefoot zoom??
Looks like it has the midsole of the Jordan 13s. Im not feeling these shoes at all though.
These alright, but i just feel like they’re running out of ideas at Nike, bringing too many old shoes out and putting the Frankenstein treatment on them to make something new. But I have to admit though, these do look comfortable. And the midsole looks so much like the Jordan 13s too.
