Turf training shoes, especially those designed for football have always been a popular style for collectors. Shoes like the Air Zoom Turf worn by Barry Sanders, or the Diamond Turf models that dual-sport star Deion Sanders made famous, have become sought after collector’s items over the years, as well as popular retro models. With the NFL Draft taking place this week, you can’t help but wonder which of the NFL Combine athletes will become the next superstar, and of course which shoes they’ll help make famous.
One of this year’s possibilities in the turf shoe area is the Nike Air Speed Nubby. Equipped with a synthetic upper that is breathable thanks to open mesh siping, and a 5/8 cut with integrated ankle fit system, the 12.6 ounce Air Speed Nubby is well prepared for performance. The carbon fiber insert at the arch support and sharp rubber nubs also ensure that traction and support are well taken care of. While the use of transparent rubber gives the Air Speed Nubby a sort of nostalgic feel of the days Barry Sanders was bewildering defenses.
