NFL Watch: A New Season Begins

words_Brandon Richard

The Sunday you’ve all been waiting for – Kickoff Sunday! Today we saw the official open of the NFL season as 13 games took place across the country. Tom Brady and Wes Welker looked like they didn’t miss a beat in a win that spoiled the debut of Cincinnati’s “T.Ochocinco Show.” Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall gave his team a much needed victory when he ran for a 50-yard touchdown to beat the Atlanta Falcons in overtime. We also saw the return of the Michael Vick, who filled in for an injured Kevin Kolb with 175 yards through the air and 103 on the ground.

However, the biggest statement may have come from Houston Texans running back Arian Foster, who racked up 231 yard and three touchdowns in a statement win over the defending conference champion Indianapolis colts. Certainly a statement made by a team looking to make their first franchise postseason appearance.

On the other hand, some players chose to make statements with their opening day footwear. Check out the photos below to see what shoes were hot on the gridiron.
