A lot of Lambeau Leaping going on in Green Bay these days.
words // Brandon Richard
All eyes are on the Green Bay Packers, as their pursuit for a perfect season reached 10-0 with Sunday’s hard-fought victory over the rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs were in it to win it, keeping the game tight all the way through the fourth quarter. With a little more than four minutes left to play, Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman connected with receiver Dezmon Briscoe to pull within two points of the Packers and a chance to ruin perfection. However, Aaron Rodgers had no plans of letting the Pack drop one in the “L” column just yet.
After Green Bay recovered an onside quick, Rodgers found new favorite target Jordan Nelson for a 40-yard touchdown pass on third down to give the Packers a 35-26 lead with just 2:55 left to play. The Green Bay defense prevented all of Tampa’s last minute efforts to chip into that lead and sealed the deal on the team’s 10th straight win this season.
Next up for the Packers is the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.
Also on the early part of the schedule for Week 11, Tim Tebow lifted the Denver Broncos to an improbable 17-13 win over the New York Jets on Thursday; the Baltimore Ravens defense gave Andy Dalton problems in a tough 31-24 division win; a Colt McCoy touchdown pass to Joshua Cribbs in the third quarter was enough to give the Cleveland Browns a 14-10 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars; the Detroit Lions outlasted the Carolina Panthers in a 49-35 shootout; the Buffalo Bills continued their slide after taking a 35-8 beating at the hands of the Miami Dolphins; the Oakland Raiders maintained their AFC West lead with a 27-21 victory over the Minnesota Vikings; and the Dallas Cowboys stole the latest round of their rivalry with the Washington Redskins 27-24.
