NFL Watch: Hillis Leads Browns Past Patriots

words_Brandon Richard

Just two weeks after they went to New Orleans and beat the defending champion Saints by two scores, the Cleveland Browns pulled off another shocker this weekend, putting away the New England Patriots by a score of 34-14. Running back Peyton Hillis lead the charge, running for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns on the day. Rookie quarterback Colt McCoy did a quality job managing the game with minimal mistakes, completing 14 of his 19 passing attempts with no interceptions. The road doesn’t get any easier for the Browns, as they prepare to take on the 6-2 New York Jets next Sunday.

In other action, the Atlanta Falcons outlasted a Tampa Bay rally to win and take first place in the NFC South. Brett Favre led the Vikings to a 4th quarter comeback and overtime win to salvage any Minnesota playoff hopes against the Arizona Cardinals. The Buffalo Bills blew another late-game lead, losing their game against the Chicago Bears to fall to 0-8. Lastly, the New York Giants continued to look like the NFC’s most dominant team, blowing out the West leading Seahawks by a score of 41-7.
