All smiles in Dallas this week.
words // Brandon Richard
Two teams heading in opposite directions met at Cowboys Stadium yesterday afternoon, when the Dallas Cowboys hosted the reeling Buffalo Bills. After a surprising 4-1 start, the Bills had lost two of their last three games and found themselves sliding down the AFC East rankings. On the other hand, the Cowboys were winners in two of their last three, seemingly turning things around for a potential run at the NFC East. These trends continued in yesterday’s matchup.
Dallas dominated the game from the outset, jumping out to a 21-0 lead when quarterback Tony Romo connected with Laurent Robinson for a 58-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter. Buffalo responded with a 3-yard David Nelson touchdown reception (which he celebrated by giving the ball to his Dallas Cowboys cheerleader girlfriend), but Dallas proceeded to outscore Buffalo 23-0 for the remainder of the game, putting together a 44-7 blowout victory. On the day, Romo was nearly flawless, completing 23 of his 26 passes for 270 yards, 3 touchdowns and a 148.4 passer rating.
The early part of the Week 10 NFL schedule was loaded, with 10 games scheduled for a 1:00 start. On Thursday night, the Oakland Raiders started the week with a 24-7 win over the San Diego Chargers; the New Orleans Saints stopped the Atlanta Falcons on fourth down in overtime and then kicked a game-winning field goal; Cam Newton had a rough outing at home and the Tennessee Titans took advantage with an easy 30-3 victory; the Pittsburgh Steelers rebounded with a hard-fought 24-17 win over the division rival Cincinnati Bengals; the St. Louis Rams edged the Cleveland Browns 13-12; Indianapolis stayed winless on the season, falling to the Jacksonville Jaguars 17-3; Tim Tebow completed just two passes in the Broncos’ 17-10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs; the Miami Dolphins picked up their second win of the season after beating the Washington Redskins 20-9; Arizona dealt a potentially fatal blow to the “Dream Team” after scoring a 21-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles; and the Houston Texans racked up a very impressive road victory, blowing by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 37-9.
