Unlike college football, there are no style points in the NFL. A win is a win, and they all count the same. The New York Jets are finding that out. For the third straight week, second-year quarterback Mark Sanchez has marched the team down the field for late game-winning drive. After successfully driving the Jets to overtime wins in the previous two weeks, Sanchez got it done in regulation today.
After blowing a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter, the Jets trailed the Houston Texans 27-24 after Neil Rackers kicked a 22-yard field goal. With just 57 seconds left to play, New York needed a miracle, and it would have to come from the arm of Sanchez. On 2nd and 10 with 24 seconds on the clock, Sanchez threw a perfect pass to Braylon Edwards for a 42-yard gain. Then, on the following play, Sanchez hooked up with last week’s hero Santonio Holmes on a 6-yard touchdown pass to give the Jets another dramatic win.
Let’s take a look at what Sanchez, Holmes and several of the league’s other top star players were wearing on Sunday.
