San Diego Chargers defensive end Antonio Garay had a unique way of remembering 9/11.

Is it possible that two-time Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady could still be getting better? If his Week 1 performance was any indication, that certainly might be the case. Opening the season with a divisional match-up against the Miami Dolphins, Brady picked apart DBs with precision, tossing for a New England Patriots team-record 517 yards in a 38-24 win. Brady threw four touchdowns on the night, two of them caught by wide receiver Wes Welker, who racked up 160 yards on the night himself. Other touchdown passes went to tight ends Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski.
In other big division openers, the San Francisco 49ers blew past the Seattle Seahawks; Washington got off to a surprising start with a 28-14 win over the New York Giants; and the Oakland Raiders nipped the Denver Broncos 23-20 in an ugly one. That contest also featured a record-tying 63-yard field goal by Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski.
Cam Newton made an impressive debut in Arizona, throwing for 422 yards and scoring three times (two through the air, one on the ground) in a close 28-21 loss to the Cardinals. Shocking people on Sunday night were the New York Jets, who turned Tony Romo mistakes into a 17-point fourth quarter, rallying to beat the Dallas Cowboys in epic fashion.
