NFL Watch: Bills Shock Patriots

Happy times are back in Buffalo.

words // Brandon Richard

When the New England Patriots took a 21-0 second quarter lead against the Buffalo Bills early Sunday, I prematurely stated that there was no way the Bills would make another dramatic comeback to maintain their perfect record. Proving that there’s never a sure thing in sports, the heavy underdogs did just that, outscoring New England 34-10 for the remainder of the game to cap off a stunning 34-31 comeback victory. With the win, the Bills moved to 3-0 and have taken an early division lead in the AFC East.

The rally was led by quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who is making a name for himself in the early stages of this new NFL football season. He connected on 27 of his 40 passes on the day, throwing two touchdown passes in the second half to help propel the Bills. On the other side of the field, Tom Brady uncharacteristically threw 4 interceptions against a Buffalo defense that was out to prove a point. That number is remarkable because Brady threw 4 total interceptions all of last season.

In other early Sunday action, the Detroit Lions also came back against the division rival Minnesota Vikings to stay perfect on the year. Cam Newton picked up his first career win in a rainy affair against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints one-upped Matt Schaub and the Houston Texans in a game that produced 73 total points. Lastly, the New York Giants picked up a big win as Eli Manning torched the vaunted Philadelphia Eagles secondary for four touchdown passes in a 29-16 win.

Take a look at the football cleats worn in all of these games and more in today’s NFL Watch.
