Each year the incoming class of potential draftees for the NFL gets put to the test by scouts, coaches and media at the NFL Combine. With most of the attention this year on Auburn quarterback Cam Newton, it seems this year’s event might as well have been called the “Cambine.” The Heisman Trophy winner, with his recent blockbuster endorsement deal with Under Armour, seemed to be the main attraction amongst the NFL Draft hopefuls.
With just under two months before the 2011 NFL Draft, there is no doubt that each and every player will shift places on the mock drafts you’ll see. The NFL Combine, however, gives them an opportunity to show their athleticism in a way that typical team workouts don’t. Players interact withe the media to give teams an idea of their abilities to handle the spotlight. They’re also tested for speed, strength, conditioning and skill on the physical side, making the NFL Combine one of the most important events of these potential NFL Watch stars’ young careers.
