Deshaun Thomas celebrates the Buckeyes’ victory with their fans.

words // Luis Sanchez

Last night’s biggest match-up in college hoops saw the No. 2 Buckeyes taking on the No. 3 Duke Blue Devils. Led by Jared Sullinger’s game-high 21 points and a healthy amount of scoring from the rest of the squad, the Buckeyes were able to cruise to victory in this battle between the ACC and Big Ten.

The Buckeyes were on cruise control for most of the game, leading the entire time and only having to weather one Duke rally early in the first half. From there, it was no looking back for the Buckeyes as they led by as much as 24 points at times during the second half.

As for the Blue Devils, they took the loss with great performances from their two young studs, Austin Rivers and Mason Plumlee. The freshman Rivers ended the game with 22 points, while Plumlee put in 16 for the Blue Devils. The loss was the first of the season for Duke, while the Buckeyes go on to remain unbeaten at 7-0.
