Controversy and accusations seem to be continually surfacing around Auburn quarterback Cam Newton but watching him play you would never guess it. Regardless of the possible off field questions, there is no denying that on the field, Newton is one of the best athletes in college football. Saturday’s performance in the SEC Championship game against South Carolina is solid evidence of that as Newton led the Tigers to a crushing defeat of the Gamecocks in possibly his best performance of his collegiate career.
Newton was cleared of any wrong doing by the NCAA recently and in his last game before next weekend’s Heisman Trophy Award announcement, Newton put an exclamation point on an impressive season for Auburn. Saturday he was 17 for 28 passing with 335 yards and 4 touchdown passes. Newton also ran for 75 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Tigers easily defeated South Carolina 56-17. Newton finishes the season with a team leading 2589 yards passing and 1409 yards rushing. As the main source of Auburn’s offense, Newton threw for 28 touchdowns this year and ran for an additional 20 touchdowns.
Could anyone else win the Heisman Trophy?
After Saturday, it’s not looking very likely.

We can all tell that this is the NCAA trying to avoid having another scandal so soon after the Reggie Bush debacle. I honestly don’t even wnat to know what is happening in most college football programs. It seems as thoughg everyone is crooked these days
