The weather is getting nicer, and it’s time now for spending time outdoors. A great way to keep your foot protected without added bulk or weight is with a minimalist running shoe, like those made by Merrell. Merrell has made a name for itself in the outdoor and hiking arena, but now they have teamed up with Vibram to create a shoe designed for barefoot running and barefoot trail running. These minimalist designs are great options for both men and women, and each pair comes equipped with Vibram soles and a non-removable microfiber footbed that has been treated with Aegis antimicrobial solution to resist odor. Each is a lightweight shoe designed to protect your feet while at the same time providing as much flexibility and as little in between you and the ground. Check out your options below, all available now on Eastbay. The Trail Glove and True Glove come in men’s sizes, while the Pace Glove and Pure Glove come in women’s.
When you get your shoes, make sure to take it slow at first. While barefoot running seems intuitive, it takes some getting used to, so for more on running barefoot, check out these great tips.
Traction courtesy of the Vibram sole and protection from trail debris thanks to the ultra-light microfiber and mesh upper, the Trail Glove for men also features the Merrell Omni-Fit lacing system that provides a glove-like fit and a flexible plate in the forefoot that protects the foot from bruising, making sure you are prepared for anywhere you want to go. Durability comes via the fused rubber toe bumper and stability comes via the synthetic leather rear foot sling.
The True Glove sports the Merrell Omni-Fit lacing system as well, giving credence to its name for the glove-like fit of the patented lacing setup. To further bolster the fit, the upper contains a stabilizing rubber foot sling that snugs into the Vibram sole underfoot, providing great fit along with protection against pointy rocks. Combined with a fused rubber toe bumper to provide durability, the True Glove has a CMEVA midsole and forefoot shock absorption plate for both flexibility and protection.
Similar in design to the men’s Trail Glove, this version was created specifically for women. Both the Trail Glove and Pace Glove sport a CMEVA midsole and forefoot shock absorption plate to maintain forefoot flexibility and distribute pressure. The 0mm ball-to-heel drop keeps your foot in line with your running surface.
The Pure Glove is both cute and functional with a Lycra® and synthetic leather upper with Mary Jane-looking hook-and-loop strap for a secure fit. This shoe also has the CMEVA midsole and forefoot shock absorption plate.
